"Room was dark and very musty, beach was covered in seaweed, loud music at the large pool felt like a cheesy Club Med resort in the 1970s. "

"The hotel was beautiful and clean. The staff was always very friendly. We found the food offerings to be pretty disappointing compared to other 4-5 star hotels we've stayed at. The TVs had limited channels and were not smart TVs. I’d say this was a lower end 4 star hotel. "

"Yoga class with Ronaldo was a highlight and excellent. Swim up bar was wonderful, beach and water beautiful. Loud music til 11pm we could hear from our room kept me up at night. "

"Jan was the best. He made sure he told me everything I needed to know about my stay. Including any extra things from Expedia. And Edgar was also great as a host and made our dinner for my sister personable and it made her feel special on her birthday. Thank you Jan. Thank you staff. "Overall stayed was good. Good food. Restaurants booking has to be done way ahead of the time ( 10 days) Before the check out we had to get our luggage inside of the room and we were locked outside ( the bracelets didn't work) We had to call security to unlock and almost lost the transport to airport. "

"Room was clean, bed was comfortable. There are no elevators so you will have to climb stairs if not on first floor. Pools are on smaller size, you can take trolley to all other resorts to use amenities and restaurants. "

"My stay at Shibari was wonderful! Staff were very professional, attentive & courteous. Check-in process was simple. They were able to check me in early. The room floor seemed like it wasn’t cleaned that well but the room and view was so beautiful it took the focus away from it. The cenote and restaurant area were amazing. Food taste amazing, a bit overpriced, but the taste, service & staff compensated for it. The fitness center can use some attention. "

"Had a wonderful time here at Akumal Bay! Beautiful view from our oceanfront room and the staff were lovely. It really did feel like a peaceful retreat compared to other AI’s. Everything was clean and the food was good. Unfortunately, there was a lot of seaweed. Not really anything the resort can do other than clean it, but this did take away from the beauty of the beach. Also the Latin dance classes! My husband and I had hoped for a couples class but it was more of a Zumba class. Would be nice...
