"Putaruru Hotel has been a convenient, easy and affordable stop for me on my travels between Wellington and Northland, close to the main road. It is good to see the property being renovated and upgraded. My room was basic, but newly refurbished, and very clean. The bed was comfortable. It worked well."

"Clean, functional, basic amenities, electric blanket....but room can be noisy due to sound travelling from neighbouring rooms and upstairs. Staff were very accommodating by staying back to let us check in when our plane had been delayed and by providing extra bedding when requested. "

"We ended up leaving. It stunk there was moldy food in top of oven. No smoke alarms. We were actually disgusted. Windows were dirty. We didnt want to make a scene so said we had to leave for family matters. Would not recommend this place infact no smoke alarms is a major health and safety breech. Never be back."

"The room's bathroom was too small- there was no where to hang out wet togs and towels. Pool gate and area could use a update and refresh. and the curtains are too see through, for $300 per night I was expecting a bit more in the room, but staff were great. Prices for a toated sandwich and salad and fried expensive."

"Manky hotel needing a serious upgrade! Got ‘upgraded’ to a room that overlooked a pile of weeds instead of the race course. Shower was mouldy & the bath out on the veranda is very odd. Never trust the photos online. "

"The rooms were clean and the staff is very polite. The only issue I experienced was about 3 to 5 minutes of hot water for a shower. Afterwards it would run cold immediately. "

"The room was clean and the bed comfy, the layout was a bit odd with 3 separate rooms for sink, toilet and shower This is not the place for anyone who has difficulty with stairs no elevator and the shower had a 25cm step up We didn't use the pool or mess hall At check in they were trying to have everyone use a self serve and download an app for the key which wasn't working very well Location pretty good with a lot of restaurants nearby, and right across from a free park where you could see...

"Room was relatively clean, however the bathroom is very tired and needs an update.. the water pressure in the shower was very poor.. barely a dribble. Breakfast was ok.. good value for kids for a continental breakfast. Good location as a base in Rotorua. "

"Satyam checked us in and he was very helpful. We had 3 rooms booked. He was ready with our keys and even recognised us by our name when we walked in. That felt so personalised. One of our rooms was on 2nd floor and he helped us with our luggage when he was just passing by and saw my girls bringing their bags up. Room was very clean Had Nespresso coffee maker.
