"Grand Hotel needing a Grand Redecorate! The condition of the hotel was extremely poor, which is a shame when you think it would have been top end when the hotel first opened. Very obvious that any work that had been carried out was done on the cheap and to an extremely poor standard. The light inside the room did not work, only the bathroom light. It was pitch black and luckily I did not trip over anything when going to bed. Got told there was nothing they could do until the maintenance man came...

"We stayed in room 347 right next to a security office and they banged the door all night and early morning. Little to no sleep. We then paid for late checkout and there was a fire alarm going off at 11. Absolute Fawlty Towers of a place. Definitely won’t be coming back. The breakfast wasn’t too bad and most of the staff we met were nice too. The place needs a revamp and please stop banging doors!!"

"Great location, short walk to town, on street parking at front, very friendly helpful staff. Room wasn’t quite ready but we enjoyed a drink on the terrace out front while we waited. Bed very comfortable, great nights sleep, even had a fan to cool the room down which was most welcome."

I went to the dining area at 8pm only to be told that the kitchen had closed for the evening so I was unable to get anything to eat that evening although I was offered crisps. "Stunning hotel, stunning location, we loved our stay and can’t wait to go back! Only very small issues be nice to allow pool use after checkout for kids on weekends as my son was really upset as they said we couldn’t . Breakfast buffet lovely - cooked breakfast random - husband asked how he’d like his eggs with his full english and asked for scrambled eggs. He then asked if he could get his bacon crispy and she said of course….he then only got scrambled eggs and bacon 😂. I asked for French...

"The facilities are being added to : restaurants etc. our room, themed room: Cape Town was decorated to good standard. The best breakfast, parking and access was very good. Staff were cheerful and very helpful. It was great experience and would go again Thanks to all the staff."

"We stayed in room 207 which has a fabulous view of the sea and beaches. The decking outside needs attention and the carpet is stained but apart from that the room is good. Old guy working the bar is really cool. He insisted we didn't pay for our drinks all night."

"We had no running hot water other than the electric shower. No wardrobe just hangers on hooks. TV was the size of an iPad. Bottom bed sheet too small and forever coming off. Needs to be clearer when it states breakfast included but it is only cereal. Outside seating area not suitable as soiled with seagulls droppings"

"staff dissapear from behind the bar (the place they use as reception, serve drinks and take food orders) for an age. After waiting five minutes without seeing a soul, I pushed open the door into the kitchen to request some assistance, if available. A waitress finally appeared and rudely shouted at me to get out of the kitchen. I tried to explain that no one had been present at the bar/reception for along time hence the need and she ignored me completely shouting again to get out of the kitchen....

"Nice place to stay, very friendly owner, excellent breakfast. Lovely location and view from the conservatory. The only problem was the room shower, tricky to control and weak flow. We informed the owner and he is going to look into getting it fixed."

"Lovely clean hotel, fabulous location with stunning views. Really tasty breakfast. Staff very friendly and helpful. Very busy over the weekend so had long queues at the bar!"
