"There was nothing we didn't like about the Hotel. The whole hotel has had a massive upgrade / renovation and for the cost of the accommodation, it represents top value. "Reception staff were excellent. TV in room didn’t work. Pool area was very clean. The restaurant for breakfast was very good but service in the evening wasn’t very good, no cutlery, no salt on the table, getting staff attention was hard work but appreciate there was training of new staff."

"The location is remote, peaceful and lovely. It's an old building and full of character with huge, comfortable rooms. All the staff were helpful. Breakfasts were a little limited, but adequate. We didn't enjoy the one dinner we had, but it was good value. Overall I'd recommend this hotel for its excellent value accommodation and location."

"With so many negative reviews regarding the size of the room, we paid extra for their bigger room. On arrival we received a friendly welcome and were shown to our room. The entrance to the rooms was having a mould problem, so an extractor had been installed and reed diffuser to mask the smell. "The room did the job - but numerous issues. Missing some basic necessities like a bedside light. Had to use the public wifi from the bar downstairs which was choppy at best. The problems started right from the beginning. Check in according to the website was 10:00pm. But at 8:30pm I had a message saying I wouldn't be able to check in after 9 as the bar shuts at that point. I was on a train so unable to get there for that time, and somebody very kindly stayed to let me in, but they still...

"Check in was easy and friendly, a lovely collie welcomed me into the yard as well! The Tack room was clean and comfortable and good for my brief stay. I hadn't appreciated how noisy the motorway would be and so had to close the windows in the bedroom to be able to get to sleep. Apart from that it would be a nice place to stay to explore the area. I was up very early in the morning, and it was perfect for my requirements."

"Just spent 4 nights at Buttercup Cottage. The location was so peaceful and the Cottage was fabulous. After chatting to the owner we found out that the water to the cottages comes from their own natural spring, and you can hear the waterfall in the background. Would absolutely come back again."
