"Received bug bites all over my arms and neck after staying here and tried to contact management for 5 days with no response each time. Also gnats all over the bathroom shower."

"The staff was very welcoming and available. We enjoyed a drink at the bar later in the evening. The bartender ensured we were happy with our drinks! The breakfast room was a long way from our room and there was a problem with the decaf coffee - a minor inconvenience. The pool was even further away but, we ended up with no extra time to swim anyway. Our rooms were comfortable and clean."

"This historical hotel is wonderful! So beautiful! The rooms are spacious and the beds divine! All of the staff are kind and helpful. This hotel is pretty close to everything. I would definitely stay here again. 3 night stay Oh, love the 12 o'clock check out time!"

"Our room was very good but we had to clean out dressers drawers and food from the Fridge. from the last guest/ No one addressed this issue. Just said thank you for bringing it to the front desk/ Do not have enought handicap parking"

"Gives a The Shinning vibe. Has a very odd smell which is the combination of cinnamon and sage oil. The decor looks like an 20's themed party which was decorated by Amazon. The carpet with the dates was unnerving. I understand at one point this was the best hotel in Des Moines but that is not today. The staff was nice but somewhat disconnected I'm guessing because they aren't making enough to feed and shelter themselves. The parking is next door to the hotel and although not a deal breaker. ...

"It was clean, quiet and the bed was pretty comfortable. The down sides. The toilet is like a miniature version of a toilet. There is no elevator, so if you have heavy bags it’s a pain. The fitness center was closed. The “breakfast”, if you could call it that was horrible. Possibly the worst I have ever seen. The eggs were cold and watery, they had the consistency of a kitchen sponge. There was no meat option. The fruit was borderline spoiled. The coffee was cold and tasted like cardboard. Good...

"The pool area is closed due to renovation but they have plenty of other spots on sight to meet and hangout. I loved the Pioneer bar and the bar tender makes great food and drinks of all kinds."

"As soon as I walked into the hotel, I was greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. Gina was by far the sweetest young lady. She explained everything to me and showed me where the elevators were at as well as making sure I was comfortable. The room was all that and more! The bed was super comfortable and the breakfast was delicious! I would definitely be back here when I visit my best friend again! 10 Stars if I could rate it that high!"

"I really loved the whirlpool room for an incredible price! It was large enough to fit x 2 average sized Americans just fine; which was also a nice surprise. The mattress was pretty firm with comfortable sheets. The room was clean, however it is an older property, so don’t expect perfection.
