"We had a Mountain View balcony room as there were no lake view balcony rooms available as we booked last minute. We did say we wished we had gone for a lake view room with no balcony but to be honest we barely spent any time in the room and could easily sit out by the lake in the garden and on the terrace. Yes, there is a train station directly out the back of the hotel (most significant for those rooms with a Mountain View) but they do not run all night and really didn’t disturb us. Also very easy and cheap (compared to UK!) to hop on the train to get into Villach for example. Others said rooms were dated - I think it’s just the mountain lodge style - we found everything to be clean and functional with the stay being good value for money. Decent breakfast spread each day and staff were all friendly. Bikes are available to hire free of charge.
It’s worth noting that at this time of year the sun disappears from the garden area by about 3.40/4pm but we weren’t exactly there to sunbathe! Parking is in a car park secured by a barrier with a code, although not well signposted when you first arrive! You have to go to check in to get the code for the car park. If you have a car the location is great to get onto the Autobahn, easy to access Slovenia and Italy too.
It’s a shame they don’t do an evening meal or open the bar at this time of year but overall a really enjoyable stay and would go back."
