"I had a wonderful stay at Ocean El Faro. The rooms are spacious, and if you’re lucky enough to get one with the swing on the balcony, it’s such a nice added touch. Hector, our concierge, was excellent. He checked in on us regularly without ever being pushy, made sure all our restaurant reservations were booked, and even helped make sure my birthday was celebrated, which I really appreciated. The resort itself is clean, modern, and well maintained. There are great food options, and as a vegetarian I was pleasantly surprised by the variety available. The only downside during our stay was the beach. It was still beautiful, but the water was quite rough during the time we visited. That said, the resort itself definitely makes up for it with everything it offers. Overall, a great resort with great service. I would definitely recommend it."

"My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. As a Black guest, I consistently felt that white guests were treated better. Making restaurant reservations was unnecessarily difficult, and even when seated, I was often served last or passed over entirely. The only restaurant where I received decent treatment was the Italian one. The food overall was poor, the customer service was terrible, and the rooms had a strong musty smell. The only enjoyable parts of the trip were the excursions outside the hotel. The most concerning incident happened the day before I left: I saw the housekeeper assigned to my room holding my bank pouch, and afterward I discovered money missing. She appeared startled when she saw me, and before I could ask her name, she quickly left and sent another housekeeper to retrieve her cart. I would not recommend this hotel, especially to Black travelers, based on my experience."
