"Well located and the restaurant was really nice and breakfast lovely. Our king suite was located in the loft and was uncomfortably warm. We mentioed to the staff and they brought up an extra air conditioner. This didn’t help much and was far too noisy to sleep with it, so we didn’t sleep well. It definitely needs it’s own dedicated aircon system. The pool changing area was very tired and in need of some attention."

"The hotel was in a perfect location right across from the wall and with an easy walk into the heart of the old town. The staff were incredibly personable and helpful and were sincere in asking about us. We ate all dinners at The Rise. The food was fabulous."

"Hocus Pocus is a really fun, quirky themed place to stay. We were able to leave our bags prior to check in and the cleaning crew was super helpful with that. We really liked the central location with shopping and food around The Shambles. Room was clean and the fan was helpful when it felt a little stuffy. Overall, we had a great one night stay."

"The clean and spacious parking, secure and included in the price, is a major plus point. The full English buffet breakfast is really excellent. Even at the end of the breakfast window, nothing is dry or overcooked, including the eggs. All members of staff were welcoming and helpful. The lounge has a lovely view of the river. "Room was clean and well appointed. Restaurant food was of a good standard. Pool was clean but you can only book a 30min slot and there are only two changing cubicles."

"Was disappointed to find that there was no available gym in the hotel, even though it is advertised as such. The sofa bed in the room was broken, as was the air-conditioning. Staff attempted to fix it but didn’t make a difference. When we visited, there was a pile of mattresses sitting in the lobby. Surely there’s a better way to manage this. We shared our complaints with staff at the hotel but they showed little interest so I hope management will take note "

"Highlights: helpful, friendly staff and lovely breakfast. Effective ac unit in room Low points: room (#55) was in desperate need of renovation. Only the ac unit in the bedroom worked .. the one in the lounge area (where our kids slept) didn't work. Gym was very small."

"Cozy family operated and wonderful staff. Stairs into our bathroom leaves me with accessibility concerns (they were inconvenient even able footed freshly out of a shower) but otherwise clean quiet and highly recommended - 5 minute walk to Yorkminster and the York city center and 10 minute walk to the train/bus station makes it ideal for travelers."

"When checking out our room was different, we are from Arizona and never used anything like this, we had to use the key card to turn on electricity to the room. The bed was comfortable and clean, air conditioner worked great and the shower was excellent. The staff was excellent and answered all my questions.The laundry room was ok, washed all the clothes well, but drying the clothes wasn't that good after an hour still had to let the clothes dry in our room.Kitchen was nice had a dishwasher and...
