"We absolutely loved Riu Guanacaste. We travelled March 28 - April 4 2026. 4 adults and 1 child. The resort was very clean everywhere you went - there was always staff cleaning the bathrooms, floors, restaurants. Pools were clean. The resort is fully updated and beautiful. We mostly ate at the buffet for ease - the food at the buffet was always hot, great selection, constantly restocked and rotated. Despite going during a very busy week at the hotel, they really know how to handle the crowd/that capacity. There were always loungers; there were always tables at the buffet to eat at; bartenders were relatively fast. The staff were always so kind and welcoming. Our favourite waiter at Liberia buffet was ROBINSON - he was attentive and so hard working - so great at his job and we appreciated it so much. Our 4 year old loved all the wild life and the water park. Beautiful, clean, safe beach! We also booked some excursions with Tours by Alan on the beach and had an amazing experience on both excursions. Highly recommend! We will be back Costa Rica! "

"I wish I could give the staff 100 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️!! Professional, accommodating and super nice staff. Whatever we ask them, they did it with a smile. For example, we were going on a tour and they loaned us towels that we returned upon our return. Beautiful hidden gem of a hotel!"

"The only thing nice about this place was the courtesy of the staff and the amazing view. Had room where caulk was put over mold and had cracked walls. AC didn’t work and asked twice to fix. Raccoons took housing above our room so they moved us to another room that had no hot water. You only get two towels in your room and mini bar is 2 waters and 1 beer. Pool towel exchange was missing towels for large parts of the day during our stay. Buffet is four items for example rice, fried banana, sliced potatoes and pork. Breakfast was recent and basic as well. On the days the restaurant is open that is your best choice, you need to make your reservation between 2-4 and order your meal then. Bar open from 10am-10pm with ok drinks. Shuttle to get around hotel is constant. You get free shuttle from airport but pay $35 USD per person to return."

"Breakfast was excellent. Staff very friendly. Room was clean. Air conditioned work. This hotel was more than a four star. Standard room is small. We upgraded to the junior suite and enjoyed it immensely. Beach 5 minute walk. restaurants 3 minutes. Grocery stores across the street. "
