"On arrival, I was told the government didn't allow me to stay in the building as a foreigner. Instead of the place I'd picked for being 2 minutes from the metro with "deluxe" in the title, I was assigned to another "Shri Sai Guest House" that would only be 11 minutes from the metro if the gravelly road to it weren't clogged by crazed traffic and my phone and I didn't have to keep working hard to find it. It had no shower, no toilet paper, and hot and cold water only available through separate taps. I could feel every spring of the mattress. The window let in a mosquito that never let me sleep."

The room was neat, air-conditioning worked perfectly, and the soundproofing made for a very peaceful night's sleep. The staff was professional and made the check-in process very smooth.
