"For the area, I think this was probably a pretty good hotel, especially for the price. The staff was fantastic, In general, this is a nice hotel that gets the job done, you certainly won’t be worse off for staying here. My only complaint would be that it seems like it’s a plug-in play corporate Hotel trying to be a cool place for people to stay. "We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Funicolare. We stayed in a family room, which was absolutely massive, with plenty of space for all of us and a very comfortable stay. The views were amazing and really added to the experience. We also had dinner at the hotel one evening and breakfast during our stay. The menu was varied, with plenty of choice, and everything we had was enjoyable. All of the staff were lovely and welcoming, but Luana at reception deserves a special mention. She was incredibly kind and helpful. We had unfortunately made a mistake when booking and selected the wrong dates, but Luana was so gracious and understanding and went out of her way to help us resolve the issue. Her kindness made a stressful situation so much easier. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily recommend Hotel Funicolare. Spacious rooms, beautiful views, good food and genuinely wonderful staff."

"Location was good, right by a bus stop and a 10 minute walk up and down to Franklin University. One staff member who was a male at front desk was very friendly everyone else was fair. They advertise self service laundry but it is not available which was very disappointing as that is one feature of why I choose this hotel. Breakfast was ok, it entailed scrambled or boiled eggs, breads, yogurt, and some fruit and cereals. Loved the fresh OJ. Facilities inside are warm with no A/C expect in your room. Amenities are lacking as there was only a small bar soap and a multipurpose shampoo, we almost fell a few times in the shower and there are no mats. Make sure to bring an umbrella as soon it rains often and this hotel did not have loaners. If you like a 70’s 80’s vibe you’ll like the decor. We will be making many trips to Lugano over the next 4 years, probably won’t stay here again."
