Perfect place to stay in Cambridge
The flat was very comfortable and well placed within a short walk of Cambridge city centre. We have stayed at Marino Place several times and will be happy to stay there again.The apartment overlooks a road but the noise is modest and we were not disturbed.

the advertised 2nd bed was not available unless you pay an additional £50 & parking is an extra £15 this makes the apartment only fit for couples & very expensive as the 5 star hotels in the area are less

Lux Living - Cambridge stay in February
It was a good stay. They need a better quality bed. Ours was too soft. Also check-out time 10 am was a bit early for us and they were not prepared to allow us to stay until 11 am for free..

Not worthwhile for price
maybe cambridge is an experience place, but the money I spent on this place was not worthwhile. The one bedroom flat is not bad for location. check in is smart and convenient. however the two, three things I am not happy with: 1, the bathroom heating was turned off when I checked in late night. there is not way to find the switch, which told by customer second day is next to the dinning table of the living room; 2. the water filer is dirty, has mold inside; 3. also the bedding is cheapest one they could find the world, I guess the are less than £20, so it is heavy, uncomfortable, and cold. Will come back again, No I won't. better spend £70 at the Uni Dorm, which is half price and condition suits their price.

It is the ideal place to wait before a Cambridge university interview. I really appreciated the extra space that apartments provide in comparison with hotels. Also appreciated the cooking facilities available.

Good overall experience. Perfect for the weekend
The flat was very nice and tidy. Not a lot of light but we stayed there only for the night to it didn’t really matter. Nice bed. Good overall experience and very easy to explore the city from there.

Walk to the centre of Cambridge
Gorgeous modern apartment with double room. Close to amenities OFO bike hire , had a carpark available for our rental vehicle. Nice sculptures in the living area. It was quite hot as no aircon but had windows which could be opened. The Proprietors were friendly and helpful. Well stocked with complimentary tea and coffee milk shower gels iron and hair dryer. Plenty of wardrobe space and hangers.

Don't stay. Unprofessional behavior
I stayed here for 2 nights with my family. It was my graduation weekend and my family had travelled all the way from India to be with me. I therefore wanted to make their stay comfortable and booked 2 rooms at the said property (based on the high rating). Unfortunately, my graduation weekend and my family holiday was spoilt because of our stay. Just to point a few things - though the area is good and the rooms are well built - we encountered the following problems - 1) the rooms are not cleaned everyday and even if you're paying 160 pounds/night you will be charged extra for cleaning your room on each day of your stay 2) on asking for fresh towels on the second day we were asked to pay for them as well 3) there is no air conditioning and on the first day when we requested for fans our request was turned down. On the second day we were made to pay extra for the table fan. 4) the staff is not helpful and refuses to assist. - overall I paid alot of money to ensure that my family has a comfortable stay but despite the good ratings of the place, we had a terrible experience. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Thank you for your review - which we were expecting after you threatened staff you would do so if they would not give you what you wanted. In answer to the main part of your review - we are NOT a Hotel, we are self catering apartments to give our guests a home from home experience. As such, we do not have a daily maid service, nor do we change the towels daily. Should guests wish to clean their towels every day, we have washing machines in each apartment. This is clear on our advertising and subsequent correspondence we send to you prior to arrival, and also in the rooms that cleaning is only done for stays of 7 nights or more. We do not advertise that we have air conditioning, as it is rare for residential properties to be equipped with this, but do mention in our correspondence before arrival, and in the rooms that fans can be requested for a nominal fee. You was not declined a fan on the first day, this was not even mentioned to us, it was only on the second day that this was requested and they were brought to you almost straight away. We are sorry that you feel this ruined your weekend, we are very transparent in our advertising what it is we offer and our prices are reflective of this. Your aggression and intimidation towards our housekeeping staff was unacceptable, and threatening this review in order to get what you want is not how we do business.

Brilliant, could not fault Marino Place
We stayed in Apartment 1 on the ground floor which has a sheltered garden on the main road, there is some passing traffic but we didn't find it a problem. I'm happy to report that earlier reviews stating a table and chairs in the garden would be nice have been listened to by Lux and both garden Apartments now have a small patio table and 2 chairs. The entry system is easy to use and we were delighted by the whole layout and condition of the whole apartment when we arrived. The lounge/kitchen/diner is big enough and comfortable. If you were doing a lot of cooking, more pans would be a bonus but we never cook a full meal when on holiday. Note, if you want to park onsite, they only have 4 spaces and you Must pre-book and pre-pay before you arrive. Again, the access system is very easy. The apartment block is on 4 floors and they do have a lift so access isn't an issue. It is situated a 10 minute walk at the most from Cambridge centre, colleges, pubs, restaurants and punts (which I would recommend on a nice day, although umbrellas are provided). I contacted the Lux office about parking and an issue I had trying to pay online and the gentleman I spoke to was very helpful and courteous. I would definitely recommend Lux Apartments as a 'home from home' and good value if you want a change from just staying in a hotel room, I find apartments much more relaxing, especially when you are on the road for a while as we were. Would definitely stay again if visiting Cambridge.

Our daughter is a current PhD student at Cambridge so we were looking to stay somewhere close to her and to center city. Location was perfect. The place was clean and very comfortable. We will definitely be staying there again.

Decent apartment, but the staff nickle and dimed
The apartment was comfortable. But the staff tried to charge me 50GBP extra for a rolling bed. I simply asked for extra sheets for my daughter to sleep on the couch. They said it was against their policy (?!) The apartment was not supplied with basics like spare toilet paper, dishwashing detergent, towels. There are plenty of other serviced apartments in Cambridge which are similarly priced and provide better service without trying to nickle and dime their customers.

We are sorry that you felt this way about your stay with us. You did not advise us prior to your stay that you would be having your daughter stay and therefore when you asked for an extra bed on your 2nd night of your stay, we advised there was a fee of £25.00 per night for the child. This information is clearly stated on Expedia and also on the terms and conditions we email to guests prior to their arrival. There are 2 sets of towels in the apartment (and additional are provided for additional paying guests), and enough toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets to get you started, but as apartments, we do not come in each day to replenish stock, any extras need to be purchased. You advised us you would leave this negative review as we did not listen to all the threats you made to us over the phone, so we thank you for this review and we would appreciate you not coming back in the future with your threatening and bullying behaviour.

Great stay
Fantastic apart from issues with hot water - if you were second to had a shower it was only ever luke warm at best. I did have to have a cold shower one day and it had been snowing which was quite disappointing. Might be to do with the dishwasher/washing machine?

Spacious apartment in good location
Good location close to the centre. Check in was easy, just a couple of codes that were emailed. Apartment was spacious and well equipped. Only down aides were that the road outside is busy and the bay window let in a huge amount of noise - almost no difference when open or closed. And the blinds let in lots of light. So not ideal for light sleepers. All very clean, except the kitchen sink, which seemed very stained.

Well-appointed apartment
The facilities are good with well-equipped kitchen and a reasonably spacious living room and bedroom. The setting is good for access to Cambridge, on a residential street close to a main road. The only drawback is that the sound of street traffic does penetrate into the apartment. So long as this is not a problem for you, the place is excellent.

Loved it!!!
I stayed at Lux Living Apartments for one night and I honestly wish I could have stayed longer because it was so nice. I loved that there was lots of room and a full kitchen included. The decor and the furniture were really stylish and comfy, which made my stay even more pleasant. The check-in process was done online and was super easy. The location was also really great and close to the central Cambridge. Great hotel, would definitely come back!

I would have liked more towels and/or a working washing machine as the weather is very humid in Cambridge in the fall.

Lovely apartment, fantastically decorated and great price for the quality. A real nice find for an overnight stay as a couple. Paid for access to parking, for ease and peace of mind after travelling so far to get there! Approx 10 - 15 min walk into the centre of Cambridge, with plenty of options for dining out.

Beautiful room
Really anazing room a real home from home in a peaceful area considering it is so close to the city. We did have slight problems with parking as no space available and when we asked if we could stay in the room until 11 they said it would cost £35 or to ring then after 9 on the morning we were staying there to see if it was ok.

Close to the river Cam. There is better available
Was slightly disappointed that as I thought I had hired a split level apartment with Mezzanine. This may have been my own fault as I hired through ebookers and couldn't of checked it properly. The 'loft room' was a small studio apartment with a separate kitchen and toilet. The kitchen was nice with appliances such as dishwasher, oven, fridge/freezer etc. The shower cubicle was modern and nicely tiled but the walls look like they could do with a re-paint. The most disappointing aspect for me was the main living area floor which was sticky and absolutely filthy. I took my shoes off when entering and the soles of my feet were black with dirt. The bed was comfortable and there was a nice modern easy to use TV. Check in was at 3pm (most hotels are 2pm) and check out was for 10am (most hotels are 11am. The morning check out seemed to be very rushed for us. The hotel wanted an extra £35 for a 12 o'clock checkout. I stay away a lot on business at various hotels but wanted an apartment for a different leisure experience. I think I will stick with a hotel next time I go away. Would question the 4 star rating. Not horrendous but not great either.

Good, but does not live up to it's true potential
In general this property has all the elements for a great place to stay. The position is excellent, the internal space is huge, the quality of fixtures and fittings is good, however it all just a little bit let down by attention to detail. The cleanliness was not up to hotel standards, the freezer was unusable, there were a number of bulbs that did not work, all of the sash windows were left unlocked (ground floor and not immediately obvious) and the hot water ran out after one shower on the final morning.

Cambridge Stay
Great place half an hour walk from the train station which takes you right through Cambridge centre. Local amenities were all well within reach and you are right next to some of the colleges attached to the university too. Vibrant and lively but the only real 'noise' as such was from the road outside which really only impacted on the television which is a moot point as I was out and about for the most part. My only reservations we tha the bed was way too soft for me (personal taste) and the Wifi was a little sketchy if anything. Lovely big apartment and great customer service too.

Nice apartment for a long stay
If you're staying in Cambridge for a longer term, Marino Place is a very nice choice. The apartment had a full kitchen and a grocery store nearby, so you can save some money and cook at home. The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of closet space, though it was light on drawers. There is a patio, but there's no seating out there, so you either have to stand or move one of the upholstered dining room chairs out there to sit. There is WiFi, though the signal wasn't very strong on my bottom floor apartment, so it wasn't great for working. Overall, I would recommend the apartment for comfort and location.
