The staff was very good, the lobby was "modern", but hot, and the room was awful, and I paid extra for an "executive room". The carpet was 12" carpet tile that was completely worn out many years ago, and the furniture was very old, badly worn, and frankly was ready to be burned 10 years ago. The most serious problem, however, was the air-conditioning. My room had a weak air flow that could only maintain about 80°F, at best. They did give me a fan, and that helped. My friend had a room here where the air conditioning did not work at all. There may be rooms in the hotel that did have functional air conditioning, and maybe even furniture from this century, but it seems clear that at least some of the rooms really only merit "one star". My wife and I stayed in Barcelona two years ago and had a fine hotel, so it is not a problem with Barcelona. Another friend was staying up the street in a "two star" hotel, which by his description was far better than the Husa Arenas. The problem is with the Husa Arenas. Stay anywhere else!
