"This was an old pub/hotel so had that lovely ambiance. It was comfortable and clean; the staff was friendly and helpful. But the room had plaster patched that needed to be painted so looked unattended to. The breakfast was unexceptional & expensive. Other than those two things - it was fine for the price."

"Very expensive for what it is, room very dark and gloomy, needed lights day and night, shower leaked out on the floor also very difficult to use, especially for ladies that don’t want to get there hair wet, we were charged for breakfast that we didn’t have, we went for my husband 80 th, and I asked if they could do a cake or something, and the waitress ( seemed embarrassed) 1 scoop of ice cream on a plate with happy birthday scrolled on and a very small sparkler it was really pathetic."

"Small car park, clean room but very dated. Uncomfortable bed - very springy and well used!! Noisy late into night from pub below. Lovely lady booked us in on Friday but bar man not very friendly. Breakfast not included in price"

"This was lovely in many ways. My room was spotless and spacious, Breakfast was hot and plentiful with a reasonable choice. The new season has maybe not kicked in as some of the outside areas could do with a little tidy up. All the staff I met were friendly and helpful. This is not the fault of the hotel, but it is worth noting that there are few public transport links to the local towns and seemingly none before 9.30 am or after about 7 pm.,"

"Arrived and checked in quickly. Efficient young chap did all the preliminaries and we headed to our room. Room was in the main building at the front. Large room with plenty of wall lights and lamps as well as spot lights. Lovely sized room and bathroom. Plenty of boiling hot water as soon as the tap was turned. Beds were clean and very comfy. "Clean rooms, very central for the town. Would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely place to stay in Winchester. Breakfast was good and enjoyed the pool. Although please note children only allowed for 1 hour in the morning which was a bit of a disappointment."
