My stay at Long John Hotel went above and beyond my expectations. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and had everything I needed, and it was located in a beautiful plaza with walking distance to busses and trains to go to other destinations. Would highly recommend staying here if in the area.

Absolutely the sweetest spot! Went there 1st and nothing compared the rest of our trip. Can't want to go back. Room was perfect!! The town square os a movie set and right out our window the view was stunning. Best kept secret. Couldn't say anything better

Relaxing stay
A gem of a hotel with a warm atmosphere and such friendly staff. The room was great and the bed really comfortable. Located in the old part of town it is a nice escape from a busy day. Will definitely stay again.

Great location in the center of town. Staff friendly and food good. Bathroom in the hallway surprisingly not a problem. Everything was clean and service excellent.

Fantastic place to stay with a short walk to the train station. Staff are super-friendly and wouldn’t hesitate to book again!

Okay, Lack of content from Staff
Stay was okay but the staff were rude on arrival. My flight had been delayed which meant I didn’t arrive at the hotel until 1am. I send numerous emails to the hotel advising them that I would be late and when I arrived I was told that I was “lucky” because they were about to close. With them being a pub and a remote town, if my flight was 10 minutes later then I would have been stranded and homeless for the night. In my room the tv was removed. The wifi was terrible and unreliable

Friendly place in the centre of Amersfoort
Friendly place at a good spot, with bar, restaurant and terrace on the ground floor. Room was fine. At check-in a complementary drink was offered, which made the process kind of long, though.

Not a bad place and the staff are nice, but...the rooms are very spartan and smell VERY strongly of cleaning products (enough so that I slept with a t-shirt over my face to dissipate the smell). Also, in the morning when we went down to breakfast and when we checked out, they had put bags of linen on the stairs (which are pretty narrow) so that it was difficult to get down the final 1/2 flight of stairs to the lobby.

Excellent service. Tasty breakfast. Very basic accommodations - nothing fancy, a bit of street noise in the evening. Overall, a good budget hotel option in a great location in the heart of Amersfoort, a short walk from the train station.

Free earplugs
It was good. Only warning. People party late sometimes. I didn't need them but they provide earplugs. I loved it. Oh and there is a chuch that rings it's bells.

Six stars -- BUT
Wonderful ! But ...every great hotel isn't suitable for everyone. The only major "but" is that the smallish room (at a great price) had a private shower but the toilet is in the hall, shared by four rooms. Not a problem for me, but some might find it a problem. The stairs are a bit tricky to navigate as well. But if you can handle that, the place is wonderful. It feels like a medieval inn -- located over a (quiet) pub and restaurant, a view of a lovely patio and canal, next to the spectacular church tower and it sits on a charming square surrounded by pubs and restaurants but off the main street. Quiet. The old city is has the feel of a medieval city, but is spotlessly clean with so many small stores (including some chains). Amersfoort is only 25 miles (40 km) or about 35 minutes by train to Amsterdam. I highly recommend this place to anyone.

Great place to stay in centre of a medieval town
We had a comfort room which meant en-suite. There are lower priced rooms with shared facilities. The hotel is in the heart of this amazing medieval town on one of two main squares that both have a wide range of restaurants. Parking is in a public garage 5 minutes walk away, and the hotel can offer an exit ticket for the parking at a much reduced cost. The rooms are in an old building and very compact but they had everything needed and the condition was very clean and well maintained and the staff were very welcoming. Its position in the heart of the town could mean the room could get noisy, and free earplugs are provided, but on our stay they were not required.

De WC in de gang voor meerdere kamers, is een grote handicap. Moet in de nacht ca 2X plassen. In kamer te weinig kledinghangers. Geen drinkbekers voor het tandenpoetsen. Geen papier op de kamer om het water op het hout rondom de wasbak droog te houden. Alles was schoon.
