Property is not appealing on first approach. Room was absolutely dated and smelt of dog. Had a very creepy feel. We left and lost around 150£GBP when we informed reception they offered another room which is not used by dog owners. Shame they couldn’t do that when we arrived. Was very very off putting. We booked elsewhere: I can’t work out how the hotel was rated 8/10. Would never ever stay again. Extremely disappointing.

The hotel was in great shape, the restaurant closed at 10 which was great for a late night snack. The room itself was huge! Beds were comfortable and the bathroom a great size

It's a bit tired in the bedroom, dining area is nice, staff were all very friendly but on our last day we got back in the evening and the room had not been cleaned.

Really nice hotel in a good setting. Easy to find and plenty of parking. Rooms are spacious and reasonably well equipped. The main issue for me was the overly soft bed which meant my sleep was a little compromised.

Nice location. Nice touch for dog owners bringing their dog there. Food was nice. Noisy fan on bathroom and carpets were in need of renewal

Beautiful location at the edge of the woods. Go for a walk and feel like you are in the middle of a forest. Nice rooms. Friendly staff.

Lovely location with very personable staff. The rooms are looking a bit tired but everything is very clean and neat. Excellent option for day trips to Amsterdam with an easy walk or short cab ride to central station.

This is a lovely hotel set in the woods in Amersfoort. The staff is very attentive, the rooms are clean and comfortable and the experience was very nice. The location is especially wonderful because you have a wonderful view into the forest from the rooms at the back of the hotel. I would recommend this hotel and have been back many, many times.

Public areas / wifi good. Room a little tired with broken shower knob, sink drain plug mechanism, shower door which fell off track etc. Had to pay for coffee / tea facilities in room which should be inclusive. Never given enough towels / plastic cups even though obvious two prople were occupying room and had to ask for more. However beds comfy, breakfast ok, parking available, nice wooded location. Outside areas great for breakfast in the sun but cigarette butts and broken glass needed sweeping up. Very picturesque surroundings and nice view from room window.

Great hotel.
Princess Hotel Amersfoort is a lovely hotel. The reception is spacious and the staff are welcoming and friendly. The restaurant is also spacious. The menu has good choices although prices are high. Restaurant staff were excellent. The room was on the first floor, just one flight of stairs and a lift is available if required. The room was well lit and there was enough space, twin singles, desk area, wardrobe and small en-suite shower room. It was nice to have a radiator with thermostatic controls instead of a noisy air blower. Breakfast was unhassled and offers typical Dutch selection - breads, cheeses, cold meats, fruit salad, yoghurts, cereals and a small selection of eggs and cooked meats and mini pancakes. The coffee at breakfast was really good and I could have happily drunk a full flask of it! There is free, unsecured wifi throughout the hotel. My only negative comments are that the phones in the room weren't working and the pillow cases were dusty. Apart from that, this is a super hotel and I look forward to staying here again.

GREAT VALUE
REALLY ENJOYED THIS HOTEL, THE STAFF WERE POLITE AND FRIENDLY, THE ROOMS WERE VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE AND THE SURROUNDING AREA WAS BEAUTIFUL. IF YOU ARE NOT DRIVING IT IS A BIT OFF THE TRAIL BUT THERE IS A BUS STOP THAT WILL TAKE YOU TO AMERSFOORT IN 15 MINUTES ONLY 5 MINUTES AWAY BY FOOT

We have stayed at this hotel before. We like the location, because we have family nearby. We have visited Kamp Amersfoort, which is very interesting. You can walk to that. Old Amersfoort is worth visiting and so are the surrounding areas. They organize walking tours of the city, nice if you have the time and energy.

We had a very nice stay, finding the hotel well situated near the town. The staff were kind and helpful, especially when we discovered we had lost our room key card. Replaced with no question at no cost.

Located at the outside of Amersfoort with nothing interesting close-by. No bathtub in the executive rooms, only shower with a strong smell from the sink. Not possible to turn off air conditioning. No mini-bar in the executive rooms. I arrived to the hotel late in the evening and wanted to stay just one night to perform night operation at local telecom site. I've asked for (paid) late checkout as I'll arrive from the office in the morning and would like to get some sleep. Hotel staff told me (without checking anything) that it's not possible because they are fully booked. Few hours later I checked online and to my surprise there was plenty of rooms available in any room category in virtually any online booking system (hotel staff was lying). Too tired to move somewhere else I booked another night so I can stay 2-3 hours longer to recover a bit before the flight. When I came to the hotel I asked not to be disturbed. The room has no "do not disturb" sign that you can hang on the door. Housekeeping woke me up by nasty knocking - 1.5 hour after I managed to crash to bed. I also did not appreciate the sound of a drill and reconstruction work in the next room. During my extremely short stay I've being lied to by an arrogant staff, paid for a full extra night to be woken up twice, "enjoyed" 30 minutes of late checkout in a room with stinky bathroom at a price of 4* hotel (130 EURO per night).

Off the beaten path...well worth it
Amersfoort is not a city which most Internationals would hear about, but it is quaint, one of the few walled cities where a significant part of the walls still exist. Pleasant, modern where it needs to be and ancient where it counts. The stay at the Princess Hotel was very nice. Would have stayed a couple more nights but was on a bit of a whirl-wind trip to see as many places I remember from when I lived in Netherlands some 20 years ago.

Not too pleasant, no hair dryer, no kettle, and convenient store.Good if you like quiet and serene environment. House keeping is lacking, cleaner do not wash cups or change towels. They charge 5 euro per day for kettle and cofee and tea refils.

8 DAY STAY IN AMERSFOORT AT THE PRINCESS HOTEL
Exceptional service at the Princess in Amersfoort. All staff trained to exemplary perfection. Wonderful breakfast feast daily (additional charge) worth indulging in!!! The evening meals are also outstanding and all special requests are honored. Dining room staff person ALICE needs special mention, her upbeat and friendly manner were especially noticeable. The location of this hotel is very convenient to major cities in central NL. Excellent access to major roadways and the center of Amersfoort. Beautiful grounds. We enjoyed especially nice weather the first week of October and enjoyed the outdoor patios. If I have any slight complaint it would be the fact that this hotel serves many group functions and the outdoor patios were a bit noisy with revelers into the later evening hours. Light sleepers may find this an annoyance but only in favorable weather. Overall this lovely gem receives all plusses from me and it was a good value to boot!
