"I enjoyed my stay at the Merchant. I loved the history of the property, its location, the extra comfort touches everywhere in both the common areas and the individual rooms. The small deck in the rear of the building offered a pleasant seating area outside, the property is well maintained inside and out. Loved being able to walk everywhere, can’t wait to return to Salem and the Merchant. "

"My daughter and I very much enjoyed our two-night stay at this charming old hotel. It was perfect for our first visit to Salem and the location couldn't have been better for exploring everything that Salem has to offer. The room with 2 queen beds was huge and so warm and inviting. It had obviously been part of something larger in its past life with 3 closets and 2 huge windows looking out to a park across the street. The bathroom had been quietly updated but kept its old charm with the black...

"The room was great- exactly as described. The gentleman owner was kind - lived on the premises and spent a lot of our stay mowing the lawn and working in the gardens. Would be a bit uncomfortable for femme people traveling alone, but a good set up for people looking for conversation or company. "

"Room was clean, wish the restroom had a fan, but the bed was very comfortable. We appreciated the chocolate on the pillows and bottled waters. The staff was very friendly and the common area was also nice to have with a microwave, coffee machine and refrigerator to use. Parking is free after 8pm and Sundays so that was helpful with a Saturday night stay. Quicker to take an Uber to visit Salem in October! Would highly recommend. "
