Hotel Review: Luxury and Charm at Lone Pine, Penang

If you’re looking for a memorable place to stay in Penang, you won’t be disappointed with this gorgeous boutique hotel, which promises sun, sea and splendour.

A Gem in Batu Ferringhi

There is something about Lone Pine Hotel that makes you – well – pine for it after every visit. Perhaps it is the beautiful sea that surrounds it with the gentle breeze coming off the Andaman Sea. Maybe it is the quaint ambience you get the moment you check in with its somewhat colonial-style interior and comfy rooms that make you never want to leave.

That was exactly how I felt when I checked into the hotel for a recent weekend getaway. On arrival, I was immediately impressed by the hotel’s beautiful gardens, not to mention the great hospitality offer by staff when I checked in.

Guestrooms at Lone Pine Hotel

This award-winning hotel has 90 sea-facing guest rooms with tropical style wooden furniture and a contemporary, chic décor. If you are on your honeymoon or a romantic getaway, stay in Lone Pine’s Super Deluxe room. It has a plunge bath on its private balcony – now that’s something you don’t get very often.

If you’re travelling with family or a large group of friends, check into the Grand Premier Suite – a luxurious two-bedroom suite with a large living area, guest room, dining area and kitchenette. There are also rooms complete with courtyards that open on to the garden, showcasing the best of Mother Nature’s right at your doorstep.

Comforts of Home

While I was staying at Lone Pine, I didn’t feel like leaving the hotel grounds at all. The hotel had everything I needed for a great holiday.

Its restaurant The Bungalow, served delicious food, including those dishes that have made Penang a famous food destination. You can dine al fresco by the beach or at Matsu – the hotel’s authentic Japanese restaurant that’s known for using the freshest ingredients.

Meanwhile, batubar is excellent for its laidback ambience, signature cocktails and tapas menu.

Lounging in Penang

Lone Pine’s saltwater pool was where I lounged most days. Being able to do this is a luxury, especially when you are surrounded by Casuarina trees and sun lounges. Did I also mention there are hammocks on the lawn for you to sleep on and literally do nothing? That’s what I call a holiday!

To top off the experience, there is Pure Energy spa that offers a range of treatments that you can experience in an airy outdoor cabana or indoor treatment room. See why I didn’t want to leave the hotel grounds?
