Romantic Activities for Couples in KL
Living in the concrete jungle of Kuala Lumpur for most of us may mean spending our weekend in the shopping malls. As we both are nature lovers, going to the shopping mall is definitely out of the list. This has then prompted us to look for secret hideouts which do not require us to travel out of Kuala Lumpur. If you are tired of shopping malls just like we are and you want to have a romantic getaway with your loved ones, here are some places that we highly recommend.
Eat, Play, Love in KL
1) Saga Hill: Invigorating Sunrise Hike
Breathing in fresh air, surrounding ourselves in greeneries and connecting with friendly local communities, we felt invigorated to kickstart our day at Saga Hill. Hiking at Saga Hill is a popular choice for old and young ones, beginners and amateur hikers, couples and parents (with their few months old babies). Not only that we sweat together, but we also supported each other to keep going till the top. Once we reached the peak, the sunrise was mesmerising, and we could feel that the vibe was very positive with some sharing laughter over their tea, swinging in the hammock, or working out in the jungle gym! To get there with ease, we recommend Grab or Uber as parking is limited.
2) KLPAC: Captivating Local Musical Performance
Watching theatre or orchestra shows can be as exciting as watching blockbuster movies in the cinema. The Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (KLPAC) offers various performance ranging from romance to cultural arts that attracts young couples and family. Just a few months back, we watched one of the best local musical romance show called Love Story. The stellar acting and sound system really caught our attention during the whole play. After that, we went for a romantic stroll around KLPAC, formerly a railway warehouse. It provides a rustic charm surrounded by red-bricked walls, lush greeneries and huge trees — best for taking memorable photos.
3) Orchid Conservatory: Floral Afternoon Tea
The Majestic Hotel’s Orchid Conservatory offers the best of both worlds where we could have excellent tea, dessert and savoury in a lounge full of orchids. With over thousands of vividly-coloured orchid varieties, vintage armchairs, transparent ceiling with exposed beams and cooling surrounding, we felt like having tea in Cameron Highlands without having to go there. The romantic ambience also matched perfectly with piano songs in the background.
4) Perdana Botanical Garden: Stop and Smell the Roses
Get adventurous and explore the city’s tropical rainforest-alike botanical garden! The 91.6 hectares Perdana Botanical Garden is our favourite place as we get to reconnect with nature. We had so much fun especially by riding bicycles using oBike, a bike sharing service that is available in the garden. For first-timers, we definitely recommend to first explore the place using a bike to have a better understanding of the entire landscape. After about an hour of bike-ride, we took a slow walk and explored hibiscus garden, orchid garden, ginger garden, deer park and tons of other surprises. It is a peaceful and serene location to spend quality time with your loved ones!
5) Bintang Revolving Restaurant: Romantic Dinner at 282 metres high
If you are looking for a restaurant with romantic ambience to celebrate love anniversary or birthday with loved ones, then Bintang Revolving Restaurant is must-go. Circling with a steadily slow pace, we enjoyed an incredible view of Kuala Lumpur at 282-m high without feeling drowsy. Being the first revolving restaurant established post-independence, the restaurant is not only about its novelty. It serves an extensive option of food of high quality. We celebrated some of our special moments there, and it was always memorable. Do check out for occasional offer and promotion online to save your bucks!
6) Tamarind Springs: Dining in the Forest
Dining in Tamarind Springs was the most romantic, unique and unforgettable memory one could ever have. Tamarind Springs is an alfresco restaurant surrounded by Ampang Forest Reserve where one can enjoy natural ventilation while having fine dining. Low-lighting and candles are also used to create a more intimate atmosphere. Another praise-worthy effort by this restaurant is that they use local produce for most of their ingredients to reduce carbon footprint and support the local economy. Just another reason to love this restaurant!
