Check in involved long queues, and when we finally got to our rooms, the rooms were doubles but should have been twins. Housekeeping couldn’t be reached and left a message as instructed, and when we returned later that evening, nothing had been changed. One room also had a strong drain smell. "Good location for getting out and about. I think parking in the area could be an issue but transport links are very good. Bit of a hike to the upper rooms but we knew this before we requested an upper floor. Room very big and nicely decorated although some work needs doing to the ceiling. Tea/coffee well provided. Exceptionally clean. Internet very week at times and ITV an issue even after you've signed in as signal too weak. Didn't need to interact with any staff. Getting keys etc very slick...

"I think the hotel is either new or newly run as they seem to be finding their feet. Check-in was 3pm to 4pm and when I called to say I might be around 6:30, I was told "it's only hour and a half from Manchester" and "there might not be anyone here after 5pm". It felt a bit abrupt in all honesty but when I arrived around 5:30 (Friday school holiday traffic), they were pleasant enough. Breakfast starts at 10:30 to 11:30 which is very late and checkout is 10am. Weird timings, hence my theory they...
