Bloc Hotel London Gatwick Airport

10/10 Excellent

"Was very clean, and was given a room with a window I could see the planes. As others have stated, was very quiet despite the airport location. Close to the train station, about 20 mins by train to central London. There are a few shops close by, but only 2 restaurants that trick you into leaving a tip, so that wasn't so great. There was a Wetherspoons but their prices were a lot more than the Wetherspoons in Cardiff, so airport prices are higher than outside the airport. Best part was easy access to my flight. The only down side was the shower had no curtain or glass so the water goes everywhere in the bathroom! The TV had trouble getting some reception, and when I discussed with staff, it was fixed and my heating seemed to work better at the same time, weirdly enough. Due to the room's size, one or two nights is best. Free coffee was supplied which was a nice touch, in a special coffee room near the elevator."

"First of all, we’d stay here again. The positives were the location and access to transit to and from the airport, the Aviator Lounge with their excellent food and views of airplanes and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The negatives were ‘well used’ rooms, cleanliness was sub par (we found thick dust in a number of areas) and dated fixtures and few missing and amenities that we’re used to having in hotels (face cloths and tissues)"

2/10 Terrible

"Broken AC (in a heat wave). 2am someone in fixing it. Gum stuck to table at check in. Had to call for towels everyday, room was cleaned once in 4 nights (requested daily). Took absolutely forever to check in with no explanation just disappeared for 15 minutes. We had to laugh it got so bad. Too bad, used to really enjoy his hotel and it’s just gone so downhill."
