"Staff were amazing! The motel is just wonderful! I loved the history and its story. The breakfast bus is fabulous!!! Rooms are clean, beautifully decorated and spacious. Parking right out front. Don’t forget to pick up some souvenirs from the front desk - including a keychain replica!!! Definitely stay here! We stayed one night on our way home from Big Bend National Park. "

"We loved our stay at Roots Retreat! We stayed in a cabin and it was beautifully decorated and so clean! It had every amenity you would need...coffeemaker, refrigerator, microwave, lots of places to plug in your electronics and even toothbrushes if you forget yours! There is no closet, but they provided a wall hanger to use. It was more like a home than a temporary place to stay. This is one of the nicest places we have ever stayed and since we have family in the area, we'll be staying here...

"Advertising on Expedia was deceiving. Room was in poor condition. A clothes pin was used to hold drapes closed. There was no shade on the window. Could not get WiFi to work. The flooring was weak. If you were heavy could have fallen through. No coffee available. We should have asked for a refund but hostess was nice and said we would have to contact Expedia for concerns"

"They should take the dead plant out of the front office! That was the first bad impression! "

"The room is clean and I like the white bed linens. TV is smart. Nice shower. All ground floor which is good because we’re parked right outside the doorway. Could be improved by adding blackout curtains to block noise from the nearby road and railroad. "
