"Outstanding boutique hotel in a great location in the old city. This hotel is a passion project for its architect builder. Every last detail is perfectly curated. 3 gardeners sweep the lawn early each morning so no cheeky leaves spoil the perfect green. The public areas a decorated with Thai and Chinese antiques. Ming dynasty horses guard the restaurant building and Ming lions guard the guest areas. The ambience of the hotel is Luxe ancient China. The staff and service is outstanding, friendly not stuffy and very personalised. We ate at the hotel restaurant 2 of the 6 nights we stayed, delicious food priced at a similar level to a decent restaurant elsewhere in the city. Breakfast is chosen from a menu, 3 choices allowed, all the usual Western favourites feature as well as a couple of Thai soups. We booked the hotel car for a day to take us to Doi Suthep and a few other places. It was a very comfortable Van. The driver, Noi was fantastic, a terrific guide and gave good suggestions for extra places to visit. The location is an easy walk to watch Phra Singh, lots of upmarket spas and a number of nice cafes. We used Grab to get around, a car always appeared at the hotel within 5 minutes of being ordered. We highly recommend this hotel and will definitely stay on our next trip to Chiang Mai."

"My first time at shangri la. Amazing experience! Very kid friendly. Without prompting, the staff rolled in an extra kids bed and left kids toothbrushes in the bathroom. Real attention to detail. Highly reccomend!"

"The staff on reception which is manned 24/7 are really lovely. Helpful, friendly and do a great job looking after the guests. There was maintenance going on in the hotel but was respectectful of times. The garden area was out of use as being renovated but again respectful of times. The rooms are lovely, I had a king size bed in a spacious room which led out to the pool area. Pool is open from 7am-10pm. Nice touch was the products left by sink all wrapped, comb, toothbrush cotton buds, shower cap. Coffee, coffee mate and tea, and also water in fridge. I didnt use the safe, staff only come in if you hang the sign on outside of door. If bins need emtying pop outside the door without the clean room sign and they will empty and leave outside for you. Hairdryer in rooms but need ask reception if need an iron. Walking distance of couple mins to shops and food establishments, atm's and currency kiosks,also temples and 7/11 very close. By the pool area is an area with toilets and wash facities ideal if have to check out but want to use the pool or go out before flight, can store luggage too. Lovely hotel with amazing staff, I stayed 2 weeks as visiting my son but most guests seemed to be a few nights. No restaurant in the hotel but an Italian restaurant alongside it and plenty of places to eat very close by. Can order grab food and have it at hotel also. Would highly recommend this hotel."
