Our trip to Kauai was amazing and beautiful. We have no complaints about Waimea Plantation Cottages, but will say a few things we wished we had noticed before we booked. We loved having our own little cottage with plenty of amenities, and we liked having no elevators, and a lot of open space in February. Even though we had a "garden view" cottage, we could see the ocean from our bedroom window and our front porch. We loved walking just a few hundred feet each morning and evening to sit in some of the nice chairs and watch the sea, it is also a great beach for long walks.Staying in Waimea was nice because it is a cute, small town and not as crowded with tourists as other areas are.
Here is what we wished we knew before we came. (We should have paid more attention!)
The one bedroom garden view cottages are cute, but they do not look like the amazing, well-spaced cottages that appear in most photos of WPC. They are quite close to each other, and the overall feeling is more "Campground," than "Resort."
There is no hot tub! We just assumed from the photos that there was a hot tub, but it's a cold wading pool!
I personally did not like people hanging their laundry on the front porch (there are back porches that can be used, and free laundry facilities.), it just made it look a lot less classy overall.
Wherever you choose to stay, Kauai is a beautiful place, and a visit will do wonders for your soul.
