Our room was clean and tidy, the beds were comfortable, and the staff was kind and helpful, especially with arranging transportation to and from the train station. We really enjoyed their secluded beach area, with beach chairs and a restaurant. The hourly shuttle was convenient and very affordable. Another highlight was the nearby local port—a great option if you’re planning trips to Sorrento, Positano, Amalfi, or Capri. The hotel is about 15–20 minutes from Sorrento, and we appreciated having a peaceful place to relax while exploring the area. Overall, a lovely stay"

"The location of the Excelsior is superb, overlooking the Bay of Naples. If you have the port side rooms you wake up to Vesuvius across the Bay and can watch its many moods throughout the day. On the roof top terrace you can watch the lights turn on in the city and see Vesuvius become a presence that is hard to ignore. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in, and we needed it after 12 days of negotiating the cobblestone streets of the Amalfi Coast, averaging 6 miles a day, and we're senior citizens! This hotel holds a special place in my heart. The breakfast alone is worth staying here! The staff was super nice. The hotel is a piece of old Italian luxury and has to be experienced."
