Cruising through the beautiful backwaters of Vaikom in Kerala, which is not as touristy/commercialized as Alapuzzha.
Vaikom, backwater front is a town in Kerala, South India. Near to Vaikom boat jetty, on the way to the public beach, are 10 sculptures, each of them reminding us of events in the historic Vaikom Satyagraha. They tell tales starting from Dalavakkunnu, where those who fought for social change were cut down and buried many years before the historic protest, to various scenes from the Satyagraha itself.
The boathouses cruising through the backwaters is the mainstay of a Kerala experience. But to get through the narrow channels, a kayak or small boat is required. The channels are lined with houses of locals; We navigated through these channels on a canoe with a guide where we passed by beautiful rice fields, and small islands. One of the best parts about travelling through these backwaters is bird watching, as we made our way through the narrower channels. In addition, these tours also include stops at small-scale industries and the local market. The smaller boats and kayaks are definitely a more intimate and a great way to learn about the culture and lives of the locals residing in these areas.

Nice backwater experience
All the staff are friendly and very helpful. The other families we stayed in were also good. We had a fun backwater experience. The restaurant food was also very tasty.The room's also very cmfortable.
