"It was overall good. I did enjoy the breakfast offering. The staff wasn’t very helpful, however. I asked for help shipping a package and the first staff member said I could bring the package to the reception desk and they could print a label and arrange delivery. The second staff member I asked when I got the package ready told me they could not help me at all. I had to walk about 15 minutes to a DHL location carrying my 25lbs package to get it shipped. The property was pretty well maintained...

"Location is very convenient and easy to find. Despite being very near to the train station, my room was exceptionally quiet. The staff went above and beyond. I highly recommend and would absolutely stay again."

"Das Hotel liegt ruhig und dennoch zentral. Innerhalb von knapp 10 Minuten sind sowohl der Bahnhof als auch die Innenstadt bequem zu Fuß zu erreichen. Die Zimmer sind modern eingerichtet und voll ausgestattet. Das 15 qm-Doppelzimmer ist für die Belegung mit einer Person vollkommen ausreichend, für zwei Personen etwas eng. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit und das Frühstück bietet alles, was man zum Frühstück braucht. Kurzum: Ein sehr empfehlenswertes Hotel, welches ich noch einmal...

"The hotel is situated just by the Munster in the old town and couldn’t be better placed. The hotel is beautiful and very old but well maintained. It has so much character. There was fresh fruit in the room on arrival. The staff were very cheerful and helpful and a total pleasure. The breakfast in the attached restaurant was superb. I highly recommend this hotel and would love to visit it again."

"Ein schönes Hotel in perfekter Lage, nur wenige Gehminuten von der Altstadt entfernt. Das Personal ist freundlich. Das Frühstück war großartig. Die Zimmer sind zwar klein, aber für einen Aufenthalt von wenigen Tagen völlig ausreichend. Das Bett war hervorragend – Matratze und Kissen waren bequem, sodass wir sehr gut geschlafen haben. Wir hatten einen Balkon, was sehr schön war. Parkmöglichkeiten gibt es ganz in der Nähe am Bahnhof; das Hotel stellt hierfür ein vergünstigtes Ticket zur Verfügung....

"I experienced unfriendly staff and unwelcoming staff at the Hotel zum Roten Bären. Harsh, curt and rude. Somewhat shocking for a hotel that prides itself on being the oldest hotel in the Region! The room itself was spacious and light by European standards but had no coffee machine, or mini fridge. Coffee would be available downstairs on weekends at 8 a.m. and 7 a.m. during the week. During our stay it was 100 degrees in Freiburg and of course the room didn't have air conditioning. But opening...

"Good location, close to public transportation and food. Well maintained property. The staff at reception were polite but not friendly. Some of the toiletries in the bathroom were not refilled before we arrived. Parking is not included and can be a bit pricey over a few days. The car park is not convenient to drive in and out of often. Overall, the hotel is good value for money and a comfortable stay."

"Leider war unsere Unterkunft nicht sauber.. das Klo wurde nicht gereinigt, überall Staub , Silberfische im Bad, alles klebte, verkalkte Zahnputzgläser, Plastik Mülleimer der halb auseinander fällt, leere Seifebehältniss, Duschgel steht auf dem Boden der Dusche, Haare noch vom Vorgänger im Bad … einfach nur ekelhaft .. !!!"

"La personne à la réception parlait français ce qui est rare. Chambre propre, assez grande, un ventilateur à disposition ( indispensable vu la chaleur), lit très confortable. C'est parfait. Bon petit déjeuner. Bon hôtel à recommander."
