"We visited during a heatwave and inquired about air conditioning. They said there was none but assured us there would be a fan. We arrived very late because our train was delayed only to find no fan and a room hotter than 30 degrees. Only one small window opened - the others were painted shut. There was no one on the premises to help and we did not think we could call at midnight. So we spent a sleepless and frustrating night in a tiny, cramped, suffocatingly hot room"

"Stayed in room 3 for 2 nights, the room was clean and modern, but the tv didn’t have a remote control available and when a replacement was provided the tv still wouldn’t work. Thats why I’ve given 4 stars and not 5."

"This is not a traditional hotel, but actually much better. The property is historic, the rooms have real character, and everything you could want in a room is all there. The staff are delightful, helpful, and attentive. And the location is central yet completely quiet."

"Staff were very helpful and friendly, room was clean and wonderfully cool, tea and coffee making facilities plus a fridge are always a bonus! Ten minute walk to the centre, and very quiet area which mostly has family homes surrounding so felt very calm and safe. Would happily stay again :)"
