"Enchanting and charming cottage!"

"Helpful frendly ,welcoming staff.Large room(althogh a little dark) Sadly, there appeared to be no hot water available in our bathroom on our first morning,(despite running the hot water tap for about 10 minutes),so we were unable to take advantage of the wonderful looking freestanding roll top bath. On our sacond morning, this had been resolved ,and there was plenty of hot water to be had. The downstairs dining/drinking areas offer a quirky blend of old and new features alike,which adds to the character of The Swan inn The Food/restaurant menu,(although slightly limited, in our opinion )turned out to be of good quality,and represented excellent value for money,and the portion sizes are as stated are indeed"large plates"!! My wife and I were impressed by the free(on the house )addition of a side of Broccoli in cheese sauce ,and the tot of Limoncello,at the end of our meal.A welcome and unexpected personal touch,for which we were grateful. Breakfast on both mornings was good ,with an excellent choice of hot cooked food. Overall ,a pleasnt stay ,which made our time down in the Midhurst/Chichester area more bearable,since our trip was funeral based. In conclusion, if you are looking ,for somewhere central to stay,with good honest hospitality, food, drink, and character, then The Swan inn and Hotel in Midhurst is to be recommended "

"I just can't say enough nice things about this place. Absolutely immaculate room, SUCH a comfortable bed - I know that can be subjective, but both of us had our best night's sleep in the UK here. Well appointed and spotless bathroom. The property itself is interesting and lovely, easy parking, beautiful outdoor patio, and our room had a private gazebo where we could relax and enjoy some tea or wine. We had both dinner and breakfast in the (again spotless) pub. Breakfast was a treat, with a wide array of choices - my poached eggs were perfect, and very obviously farm-fresh, with bright yolks. Dinner was also spot on, we invited our UK friends to dinner with us, and all 4 of us found the food tasty, prices reasonable, attentive service from friendly staff. I should especially mention the staff - professional but easy, friendly, accomodating, we both felt welcomed and quite at home here, and even though they had plenty of guests we still had personal service to the letter. Both my spouse and I already talked about coming back, and our friends who drove in from Bournemouth for dinner said they'd love a romantic getaway weekend here in the summer. This place was a real highlight of our trip, A+ would stay again."

"Room should have a fridge and milk.We arrived after a 5 hour journey and were told our room was not ready.2 hours later we asked about room and it was ready but the cleaner had not informed reception of this. When we booked nobody asked what kind of room we wanted and we ended up with a room at the top of a spiral staircase. I have mobility problems and found it difficult to climb the stairs."

"Room was in excellent condition; Breakfast was delicious and service very good . Dinner was delicious and being served by the owner made it very personable and meant we received the very best of service. "
