"I am not sure what the other people that gave this property a “10” rating were smoking. We were the only people in the whole hotel. There is a reason for this. This is the only time in my entire life where I have paid for a stay and heave left for another property. It was worth it to leave. The staff was nice enough but the property needs a lot of help. It has potential and was probably quite nice in the 1980s. If you are an American you can compare this place to a sub-standard Motel 6...

"The location is indeed an hour away from the airport, so keep in mind there will be several toll houses to pay when coming and going. The property never has hot water. Be ready for bug bites, which I believe to be spider bites. The breakfast and staff are great, but cleanliness isn't there. The rooms are never cleaned they only come in and make the beds and there is no sweeping or mopping or hardly take the trash out which is a factor that might contribute to the amount of spiders in the room....

"Me esperaba más de un hotel que cobra 1.1 MM la noche. La habitación no es acorde al precio. Parece mas habitación de un Motel que de un hotel SPA. Paredes sucias, piso deteriorado, muebles deteriorados y del baño sale olor a alcantarilla. Pedí un corte de carne que tampoco es acorde a lo que deberia ser, por lo que también son precios no acordes! "

"This is a beautiful facility. However there is constant noise with large trucks driving by from 6:30 am to 7 at night. The music played one night til 5 am from a neighboring property. Food was top notch. All made fresh so be prepared to wait. Service for drinks was very slow."

"The Selva Maria Hotel is pretty basic as far as amenities go, but the personal touches are where it really shines. I stayed here for 9 nights when I was in Santa Fe for a paragliding competition. The staff were friendly, eager to please and engaging. Breakfast was made to order everyday. I appreciated the quiet retreat here at the end of a long, hot day. "
