"Chose to stay at Beach Front Motel based upon star rating and colorful room photos. Understood property was a motel not a hotel nor luxury accommodation. That said, I liked the location and ocean view. I paid "extra" for an oceanfront room assuming there would be unobstructed views of the ocean ~ not so. The window blinds in our room, #20, did not fully open. There would be no ocean wave sounds either as windows were painted closed. The room was clean but the surfaces were "tired". The tile directly outside the bathroom was cracked and the floor gave when stepped on...dry rot? Towels were nearly threadbare. Stemware provided definitely required a wash before use as it felt dirty to the touch. Exterior of property was in need of attention as well, walkways were sandy, could have used a sweep, area in front of stairs was collection area (low spot) for water. Property just in general state of disrepair. "

"After 4 rooms, I was able to find somewhat of an appropriate accommodation. The first room had outlets hanging out of the wall, an extension cord going across the floor. No outlets worked. The floor was disgusting and the bedding was discolored and torn. They sent me to a 2nd room to look at and the whirlpool would not shut off. Switches were missing cover plates or no switch was present. The room was dirty and the floor looked like there was urine around the bathroom stool. Room 3 had wall lights falling out and hanging by the wire and was very dirty. Room 4 was at least clean but had several items damaged including the hair dryer hanging off the wall, the support bar into the shower was ripped away from the wall, the fan vent cover was hanging off the ceiling, the threshold was busted up and the outlet sparked anytime you tried to plug in something. I had two other individuals that were renting a room for the weekend and both had to be transferred to another room as well. Neither of them stayed the second night as the AC did not work among other safety issues. I highly suggest to stay away from this place. The pictures and reviews on line are not real! Had I been able to cancel, I would have but the owner said I could not because I booked through Expedia. Horrible service and disgusting rooms that are health hazards."

"My husband and I were very happy during our stay at The Island Cottage Inn. The rooms are very clean and charming. Kathy and Tim are exceptional hosts who are like old friends by the time you check out. They provide a variety of breakfast options that start your day off right. Their beachfront across the street is the perfect place to take a long walk or relax on the chairs that are provided. If my husband and I are anywhere near Flagler Beach again, we will absolutely stay here."
