Hotel Brandan

10/10 Excellent

"This hotel was nice, the room was spacious and the washroom was nice (had heated floors, lots of towels). I think that they space people out a bit as I was in the level below the lobby/somewhat basement which was a bit odd? The cleaning staff were super thorough, cleaned common areas multiple times a day. Breakfast was good, lots of selection, I did it one morning as many places nearby open later in the day/aren’t open every day. There is a free happy hour from 5-6pm in the lobby where you can get a free glass of sparkling white wine which was nice. The only downside is that it is a bit north of the main parts of the city by 1.4km, however, it is a quick walk/city bus is free, and it does have free parking if you have rented a car. I didn’t think it was worth driving from the hotel to the “downtown” core, but I believe there is free parking in the city and I was aware of this when booking. This was only a disadvantage when the weather was bad (really windy or rainy)…"

"We got a regular room very last minute and it was clean and relatively spacious for a standard room. The breakfast is great. A lot of hotel in the Faroe Islands and Scandinavia (in my experience) tend to do just bread with topping but they had warm options as well which I appreciated (scrambled and boiled eggs, waffles with syrup and whipped cream). A very good continental breakfast. The beds were also very comfortable and our room had a great view of the coast. If you have a car the parking situation is not great. The parking lot is very small and you have to reverse/drive out directly onto a relatively busy road. However that is just part of being in Torshavn, anywhere you go there is limited parking and lots of large SUV’s so just be mindful."
