"The room was beautiful and roomier than expected. This hotel is remodeling and looks great. The continental breakfast included two hot entrees which was nice. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Hotel is located in a nice neighborhood."

"Me and my Boyfriend cannot stop talking about how beautiful and marvelous this Hotel is. Location, location, location! Right in front of the largest Starbucks there is The Starbuck Reserve and close to everything else, we did about 20 minute walk to the Bean. I recommend The Riu Plaza to anyone in Chicago, the staff is so friendly and joyful, with amazing attitude, you will not be disappointed i promise you that!"

"I don’t usually leave reviews like this, but this needs to be shared. On the second day of our stay, Sunday morning around 10am, we went to visit one of the restaurants recommended by the hotel. As we exited the lobby, I was randomly assaulted and punched in the face by a stranger. It was completely unprovoked and honestly shocking. I’ve never experienced anything like this before. We reported it to the police, but what stood out just as much was the lack of any visible security presence at the hotel. For a place recommending nearby spots, there should be a stronger sense of safety right outside the property. This completely changed how we felt about our stay. Guests should feel safe coming and going, and that wasn’t the case here."

"The property is very clean and staff is wonderful and responsive. The property is starting to show its age some. Shower head sprayed all over the bathroom and handle fell off the bathroom sink. Staff immediately fixed the sink handle, but we had to tie a wash cloth around the back of the shower head to keep it from soaking the floor and toilet, including the toilet paper."

"If you have a car be prepared to pay 50/night for parking which is pretty common for all downtown properties. This property is affordable so it does offset the cost.fpr parking. Smaller rooms are perfect for solo traveler or a very close couple lookingfor an intimate space. The only other thing is you can hear the party crowd at 3AM on Saturday night after bar close but that might be common for downtown property. Great staff, awesome free coffee, ice water and bacon, egg, cheese breakfast sandwhich (small fee for breakfast sandwhich). Cute lobby. Great diner across street for lunch! Walgreens 1 minute away."
