"Overall, I completely enjoyed my stay and the room. It was a short stay and I did not utilize the pool or restaurant. The gated parking lot was a little weird. When checking out, I left my card in the room and then was confused about how to get out. Caused me a bit of a panic since I was on my way to the airport."
"The staff was wonderful. However, the bathrooms in the rooms were not ideal. The toilets were child sized with no grab bars. The bathtub did not drain properly. The sink was minuscule and did not hold toiletries. There was no fan in the bathroom. The bed was comfortable, but it was pushed so close to the wall that it was very difficult to get onto the right side of the bed. The room was very small and there was only room for one suitcase to be elevated. We would not stay in this Marriott again."
"The location is genuinely beautiful and there are pocket views of the Pacific — I’ll give it that. But the reality of staying here didn’t match the marketing. There is a photo of a pool on Google that is completely misleading — there is no pool. I’ve already submitted a correction to Google to have it removed, but future guests should know before they book.
The noise — both street and interior — was a significant and persistent issue throughout my stay. It was loud enough that the hotel thoughtfully provides earplugs in the room, which tells you everything you need to know. For anyone who values rest and quiet, this is not the place.
Service was consistently transactional at best. The warmth that other reviewers mention was not my experience. At Birdseye rooftop I waited approximately seven minutes without being acknowledged, and general interactions with staff throughout my stay felt perfunctory rather than welcoming.
The concept is charming and the location is prime La Jolla. But future guests should go in with carefully managed expectations — particularly around noise and the accuracy of what’s advertised."
"Fun, retro-ish, apartment -- much more than a room -- in a fantastic location with easy access to La Jolla and drives up the coast! The staff was extremely helpful and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed. We will definitely be back!"
"Great location. Quiet, next door to beautiful Museum of Contemporary Art which has a lovely outdoor cafe and indoor/outdoor seated restaurant. Right on the ocean. We walked everywhere. There are some stairs to some rooms but we re in our 70’s and managed."
"Nalleli greeted me at the front desk, she was so friendly and kind. I felt more than welcome right away. The amenities are great too, free s’mores kits and beach set ups with chairs and umbrellas!"
"i need a bigger room so I got the terrace ocean view with two bedroom 2 bathrooms. i already knew that the room was outdated which was completely fine. I was definitely mislead because no where in the pictures did it say my room was 2 levels otherwise i would have never booked it with 2 kids under 2, huge hazard, my room had 4 levels of stairs to separate the two bedrooms. The unit had no ac throughout only ac in the 2 bedrooms; we were hot throughout the stay. There was no trashcan upstairs so we had to place our trash into a neat pile, even after i asked for one they never brought one. The description said stair access only which means stairs only to get to the room which was expected. That is a whole other story. The room is so far from the main lobby you have to get into the car and drive all the way around the block into a a tiny parking lot. To get to the beach you have to walk a good 10 minutes of stairs, going down is easy but going up forget it. The hotel in under renovation so my ocean view so when i walked out to the balcony it was to a huge covered construction building. which isn’t going to be complete for another few years by the way. There was also a wedding going on Friday and it’s my view from my balcony until 10pm. The only reason i didn’t put 1 star was because the room we chose was because we walked to all the restaurants which were all on prospect street where are room was and it was easy to communicate with the front desk"
