"Room was very clean and roomy. It’s a very old building and there are rooms that have no windows though. That’s fine if there is a significant price difference but not good for a multi-night stay. Best to call in advance to try to get one of the couple of rooms that have windows. It’s also perfectly located just outside the old city. Easy walk to everything."

"Having pre booked Hotel Car park we were put in a Public car park across the road, this is not the Hotel car park. Breakfast ok but lacked topping up of bread, cold meats, hot food eg scrambled egg etc basically empty. Having paid hotel cost of parking we then found couldn’t exit the car park without paying another 11 euros. Hotel reception only refunded us with 8 euros should have been 11 ( didn’t realise at the time ) Obviously small amount difference but very irritating!!!!!"

"The view of the room was disappointing - even though it said it would be view on the park. The Welcome screen on the TV with your name is a nice touch but they got my title wrong: Mr instead of Ms. It would be nice to have parking facilities or at least a discount on the nearby parking"

Le Phenix Hotel

"The staff at Le Phenix are amazing . Always friendly. I felt comfortable with them. They are gracious for we English speakers who have less than rudimentary French (I practiced! Really I did!) The rooms have good AC if necessary. The restaurant associated with the hotel is shockingly good. Such a wonderful lunch! We did not have the breakfast buffet because we eat so light, we did not find value. I do wish there was a hot water kettle in the room. Beds are comfortable. Our room was spacious. Housekeeping services were complete. Room was quiet. The location is convenient to many buses. We walked from Gare de Lyon part- Dieux, but I would recommend the C13 ir the TB 11 for an easier trip if you have bags. The location of Le Phenix is a perfect place to be close to Croix- Rousse, all the 1st and 2nd Arr’nt, the bus to Maison des Canuts, Fourviére, and all of Vieux Lyon. I want to make another shout out to the staff. And oh! The Jambone- Buerre sandwich as a picnic lunch? Just say oui merci!"

"Beautiful property and grounds. Dog friendly. Had ample parking including electric car charging. We stayed in a duplex room which is in a separate building right next to the main chateau, only seconds away so not far to walk. The room was clean, spacious and had a good size bathroom which is always a plus. Nice little patio looking out towards the pool (or gardens if you are on the other side). Breakfast was very good, lots of choice including bread, pastries, cold meats, eggs, muesli, yogurts etc. This is served in the building where the duplex rooms are so it was a nice short walk to breakfast. Staff were very friendly and polite. Unfortunately we did not get to try the restaurant as we arrived too late but it looked fabulous located in the old chateau. Would definitely stay here again without a doubt!"
