The staff might just be the friendliest in Great Britain. It made the stay a delight and we used the great conservatory space to watch a Christmas movie with our little one. Great food and great beer/wine. You need a car to access all the local things (Runswick Bay/Whitby/Scarborough/Moors) but we will come back each year as we love it.

An absolute little gem of a place - our dog friendly room (No. 7) was really lovely - very homely and immaculately clean. The staff are super friendly, helpful and really go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. Our evening meal by the cosy fireplace was absolutely faultless - proper home cooked comfort food, and the breakfast equally as good too. Wish we could have stayed longer - highly recommend and will absolutely be back.

We had two nights at this hotel based on the excellent reviews, and we were not disappointed. Everything was exemplary. The room was spacious with probably the most comfortable bed we've slept in for ages. The food was equally good: nothing too fancy but perfectly cooked and piping hot. The same goes for breakfast. And if you like your beer, the Timothy Taylors Landlord was perfectly stored and served. The location is superb - easy driving distance from Saltburn down to Whitby and beyond. If you prefer, you can leave the car and travel by bus with regular buses going along the coast. Service by every single staff member was excellent - smiling, helpful and engaging. We hope to return again and highly recommend this lovely inn.

Beautiful garden and room. The room was a good size with a large, comfy bed, great shower and fresh milk for tea and coffee. We ate dinner there, having established that there were options for a vegetarian who was also coeliac. I had a vegan but not GF wellington, which was lovely. Breakfast was also excellent, with a coeliac-friendly omelette with GF toast. It was all delicious, so thank you Ellerby Inn! The website said EV charging was available. We enquired at check-in and they said we could plug in our granny cable for a slow overnight charge. We didn't have it with us, but it would have been a great option if we did. The staff were welcoming, friendly and caring. We hope to stay again sometime.

Our 3rd stay at the property. The staff will always go the extra mile. The rooms are lovely and stocked with the little extras that make you feel welcome. The food and the service is excellent and good value. My only gripe is the the amount of dog faeces in the garden. Two of our party managed to get some underfoot. Next day it had been covered over with sand, not sure that was the best course of action!

Great Country Inn

We had a really lovely stay at the Ellerby, the staff were the friendliest that I've ever met in a hotel. They can't do enough for you, always with a smile and a chat. Food was great too, Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and it was extremely dog friendly, both our dogs had a sausage each for breakfast every day! Hotel isn't 5 star luxury, but it was certainly one of the nicest places we've ever stayed. We loved it and can highly recommend.

The location was lovely. Staff and food excellent. Only problem was our noisy bedroom. We could hear toilets, showers, doors closing etc etc in both rooms adjacent to ours so we were woken early every morning.

A hidden gem

Yet another lovely stay at Ellerby This time we took the dog and it was just as enjoyable as ever! Made very welcome and so much fun having our evening meal in the bar area. The food is exquisite and so much choice Can’t wait to go back soon
