Unfortunately, our experience at Smart Guesthouse was very disappointing.
Shortly after arriving, we encountered several issues with the room, including cleanliness/sanitation concerns in the bathroom area, stained towels, visible mold on the bathroom ceiling, excessive noise throughout the property, and problems with the shower functionality and water pressure.
We respectfully raised these concerns with the host shortly after arrival and attempted to resolve the situation calmly and professionally. However, the communication quickly became confrontational and dismissive rather than solution-oriented. We have never been spoken to from a host like that in our many years of travelling. This ultimately made us feel very uncomfortable remaining at the property.
As travellers visiting from another country, the situation became stressful late in the evening (9:30pm) after we were informed by the host that we had been “reported” by him to Expedia following our request for a partial refund for the unused nights. After being told we were “reported”, we weren’t even sure if we were allowed to stay there anymore. Due to both the condition of the accommodation and the way the situation was handled (very aggressively by the host), we decided not to spend our three remaining nights at the property and unfortunately spent another $1,500 relocating elsewhere immediately.
