The little village of Ostia Antica, 30 miniatures drive from the centre of Rome is a wonderful place to visit. The old village itself is quaint but it is the ruins at Ostia Antica which is the absolute draw card here! The ancient city was the first port of Rome dating back around 200 B.C. It is an area not really frequented by tourists, as most visiting head towards Pompeii, which is hot & extremely crowded. Here though you won't feel any of that & you get to wander this well preserved old ruins of over 2000 years! Make sure you visit the small but amazing museum at the site as well, just extraordinary!
