"Pleasant stay at the Seaton Lane Inn with a little hiccup of no towels in the room on arrival but was remedied straightaway. Check in was quick and easy although steep stairs to the upper level of the Inn rooms. May be a little difficult for older people to negotiate these. Had food in the restraunt one night and enjoyed the steak which was cooked as asked and the service was also good from the waiter. Check out was also quick and easy so a very good stay at a good hotel."

"Shower was slippery could have done with a mat in the shower. Also the view overlooking air conditioning pipes."

"Staff were great, the hotel looked stunning and the grounds were amazing. The breakfast was delicious too. The room we had was in the attic so I kept hitting my head, the main light in the room was above the doorway which was around a corner so didn’t really help at all. There was water and hair in the bottom of the shower when we arrived as if someone had only just had a shower. There were patches of damp in the room around the window and on the ceiling."

"Hotel did not inform me that all roads leading to the hotel in a rather large radius would be closed on the night of my arival. There was no communication of alternative parking arrangements. When I arrived and explained calmly that I was not a happy customer I was given excuses. Apparently they are unable to contact me because I booked through expedia. "Room was lovely and clean on the whole. Having dinner over in the gym café was not really a nice experience, although food was OK. Didn't bother with breakfast because I didn't want to sit in gym café. Although room was good I wouldn't stay again in this hotel."

"Room was cold so we put on the a/c. It blew cold air continually. We thought it would eventually blow warm air. At 3am my husband was so cold we decided to leave for home. The checkout lady told us we should have gone to her as it’s controlled at reception. Would have been good to know this."

"Farnley Tower is a very attractive building in a lovely location, easily walkable (but be aware that Durham is VERY hilly) to and from the city centre, the cathedral, and the castle/university campus. "Clean & comforts, but there’s no table which even can’t have a simple breakfast. Have 2 sofa which are no use for us. It’s better to have a table & storage drawer."

"Food is excellent but dinner service was very slow. Hotel is a little dated. The bedside, round 3 pin plug sockets are useless unless you have appliances with old style plugs or an adapter. Toilet cistern was leaking and there was a small leak on the towel radiator. The seal on the shower screen was not in contact with the bath top, so floor became wet through after taking a shower. Lots of plastic flowers adorned the hotel. Hotel is very well located if you plan to visit Beamish museum."
