"This is the perfect place to stay if you or anyone in your family is having surgery or any kind of stay in the UAB Hospital. It’s joined to the hospital and uses the hospital parking deck for your overnight stay. We didn’t eat at the Bistro located inside the hotel but is a convenient place for a quick bite. There’s plenty of places to eat after you go up to the 2nd flour and walk over the skywalk to the inside of the hospital . Beds were good and it’s a very clean hotel. Enjoyed our stay."

"Disheartening experience. I rarely leave reviews, good or bad. If I take the time to write one, it means the experience was either exceptional or extremely disappointing. Unfortunately, this stay fell into the latter category. Upon arrival at SpringHill Suites in Birmingham, Alabama, we immediately noticed cleanliness issues. There was a used panty liner in the trash can in our room, which was very unsettling. The welcome screen on the television was still displaying another guest’s name, which made it seem as though the room had not been properly reset for new guests. Throughout the stay, hot water was inconsistent and often scarce. The towels also had an unpleasant odor, similar to corn chips, which further contributed to concerns about overall cleanliness. Because of these issues, I did not feel comfortable or confident about the sanitation of the room and even had reservations about sleeping in the bed. Overall stay: 2 out of 10. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I would not recommend this hotel."

"The Painted Lady is truly a gem! The rooms are great, staff are wonderful and accommodating, and it was great having off street parking next door. There are a ton of fantastic restaurants as well as wine & cocktail bars within a 10 minute walk. We were just passing through Birmingham on our way to New Orleans but after our experience at the Painted Lady we plan on making it a several day stop on our next southern excursion. "

"This was a dimond in the rough. very unexpected treasure. The rooms was very spacious and clean. Full size refrigerators. a two eye burner,dish washer and everthing you need for a stay away from home. It was in walking distance to everything. Looking forward to our next stay."

"The HDGH is a lovely, low maintenance option in Five Points South - it's super conveniently located to an awesome breakfast spot (The Pancake House) and a nice coffee shop, and has an incredible bbq place (Jim & Nick's) also walking distance. There is no staff on the property so if this is important to you, be aware, it's a fully self-service location. Not an issue for my friend and I during our stay. Our two-bed suite was clean, comfortable and our bathroom shower had great water pressure and very hot water (always nice!). I will note that it also inexplicably had large a semi-transparent window that allowed you to see into it, which was not great or necessary and really prevented the sort of privacy most people would consider necessary while using a bathroom? Otherwise a very pleasant stay and would certainly recommend the house based on location and price."
