"The ‘old bask’ (with its spacious studios on the upper floors with the seaside view) was always a lovely place to stay, with its close proximity to piers, docks & restaurants. The now completed additions are an upgrade but now it also includes the new restaurant “mar” with a Top Chef associate running the kitchen (one had to try the grilled octopus sitting on a plantain!) This puts Morehead City into a whole new experience level, justifying the long trip"

"Great stay overall. I chose this hotel because I could bring my dog. Rooms were clean, spacious,bed was super comfortable, the refrigerator in the room wasn’t very cold, but that wasn’t a big deal. Also, it was quiet, which is always a plus! Nice staff. I was slightly disappointed in the breakfast, it was just toast, bagels, yogurt, cereal, and when I went down to eat nothing had been restocked so I had to wait for plates and other food items. Not that big of a deal because we were checking out...

"The place was nice and clean. Pool was wonderful. Breakfast staff couldn’t have been nicer. The employees were friendly and helpful. It was close to the beach and the base so we could see our son."

"Check in was friendly and welcoming. Had a good sleep as the environs were quiet and bed was comfortable. I really appreciate rooms without carpeting for my allergies. The breakfast was finished at 9:30am sharp, so no dawdling allowed. Exercise room is nice but could use some temperature control as it was kinda hot in there. Ate at nice Italian restaurant close by, Luccas Chophouse. We sat outside, ordered homemade seafood ravioli with a scampi sauce and received great service."

"Enjoyed the staff and property. Close to Southport and the coast yet close to local restaurants not just “resort” priced restaurants. Breakfast was ok but not many fruit offerings and items weren’t always refilled in a timely manner."

"I ask for maid service for my 3 night stay and received only 2 days : sad that they require guest to request maid service in advance (should be standard operating procedure) and even after asking it’s hit or miss…….."
