"This is a really wonderful hotel. We stayed in the main building and had a lovely view of trees and the river. The grounds of the property are beautifully maintained with gardens, fountains, fire pits, and more. It's a really peaceful experience to stay here. We had breakfast from the little food truck and sat in the garden watching the butterflies. Would definitely stay here again."

"We typically stay on Cannery Row at the InterContinental so this was our first at the Portola. PERFECT location for my husband and I and a gorgeous beachy room. He walked to the pier for a fishing day, and I was able to safely walk with others on a pedestrian trail on the boardwalk each morning. Alvarado Street has so many fun shops and restaurants for nighttime. My only negative was one of the mornings I went downstairs to the restaurant by myself. I was seated, then ignored for 20 minutes. Waitstaff made eye contact, but never came to my table. I ended up going to Starbucks. Other than that ideal stay."

The ocean view was truly breathtaking and added an unforgettable touch to the entire stay. There was something special about being able to unwind while taking in the beauty of the ocean right from the room. Overall, this was an exceptional stay from beginning to end. The combination of the beautiful ocean views, pristine accommodations, convenient location, and outstanding service made it feel like a true luxury getaway. I would absolutely return and highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a memorable and relaxing stay."

"Overall, it was a good stay. We had a Quiet room but the location on property was poor. One side faced the property parking lot while the opposite side faced a construction parking lot. We should’ve been offered a discount since, as in the online photos, it showed nothing but pretty greenery and hanging plants. It was nice to have lunch at the umbrella tables in the center of the property. We arrived after the office was closed, but the self-check in instructions were clear and easy to follow. It was a little weird that they put the refrigerator in the bathroom. Property location was great! We could walk down the street one way to the shops, galleries, and restaurants, or out the other directions into the neighborhoods."
