"Difficulty in checking in after hours. Instructions were confusing and no one was reachable by phone. After managing to check in, the room was not set up for 2 single beds that had been booked. Spoke to staff next morning & they were very helpful in upgrading us to a beautiful suite"

"We were disappointed that we didn't get the room that we paid for - it did not match the advertised pictures and was smaller than advertised. The pools and spas were too cold to swim in and one of the spas was not working. The room was very dark and a big wall blocked our view. There was not enough cutlery for 2 people and there was no sink to wash it in. The blinds were stained and the pools had stains and chipped tiles. It was in need of a renovation and a good clean."

"Had a wonderful 10 night stay at Shantara. We loved being so close to Macrossan st and the beach, while the pool was an amazing end to each day. The Hotel was peaceful, beautiful and quiet. As is normal for Far North Queensland, there is not everyday cleaning service but we don’t use that anywhere anyway. Plenty of parking, but if you didn’t bring a car everything is walking distance with shuttle bus options for longer journeys. The only black mark of the stay were our neighbours on the pool...

"We stayed in a beautiful 3 bedroom Villa. It was perfect for our family of 7. Hotel staff was wonderful. Great looking property and fabulous pool area. Location is less than ten minutes from central Port Douglas. Access to the beach. We will definitely return for a longer stay!"

"Was really unimpressed upon check-in to find our room was poorly cleaned upon the last guest’s checkout. The floors were filthy, the windows were dirty and smudged, there were dead bugs in the windowsills and there was even water left in the kettle and the coffee machine from the last guest. We literally had to walk around our room in shoes for the entire eight days we were there, as we wouldn’t dare walk around in bare feet even after the floors were cleaned for us.
