The Historic Brookdale Lodge, Santa Cruz Mountains
8/10 Good
"The Brookdale Lodge was a very nice stay for the week. Checking in was quite easy. Our room was clean and the bed was very comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was very good. I only gave 4 stars because we stayed for 4 nights and never got any service to our room, and despite requests to the maid and the front desk, they were unable to provide more hand towels or wash cloths. The market was acceptable, but had minimal options. We did end up going to a market in a nearby town to get orange juice. The Diner was downright disappointing. We attempted dinner and despite being the only people in there for the first 20 minutes or so, the service was exceptionally slow. The food was ok, but took so long that we decided to skip dessert. We went back another time to try ice cream for dessert. They were out of 3 main ice cream flavors, but we adjusted. Then while we ate ice cream a child (we assumed the child of an employee) was playing with his remote control car and repeatedly kept running it into our chairs. I made a subtle (but not rude) comment to the waitress, but she just laughed. We didn't try again. The River Run bar was wonderful with very helpful and friendly staff. They even let me in to see the Brook Room, which is under renovation, per my request. Overall, I plan to return. It is a great hotel with alot of history and character. Just still some room for growth."

Comfort Inn Santa Cruz North
10/10 Excellent
"Clean room with everything we need it. Just bed frame linens looks used no dirty but it looked weR down. Breakfast was good, fresh made waffles, toast, muffins, coffee, sausages, cereal, potatoes, yogurt, pretty complete breakfast."
La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Santa Cruz
8/10 Good
"Room and refrigerator were clean. Staff both reception and housekeeping were very accommodating. The breakfast buffet area always seemed a little cramped. Waffles were a hit but had to stand in line the first morning a long time as only two waffle makers. Almost always a line to make waffles. I guess the line depends on how many guests show up at the same time. Muffins were the same everyday, it would be nice to have options. Always plenty of bacon, scrambled eggs, and sausages. No hot chocolate packets :( but other option coffee, tea, milk, juices. There was a $25 parking fee per night and I didn’t remember that being mentioned prior to our stay. Around that area there were no other options for overnight parking so no choice. Good to know the parking area is secured. Easy walk to the beach wharf, boardwalk and downtown. Visited the Museum, lots of great I for about the bay. Fun for all ages. I stay definitely again."
Hotel Solares

"I liked the hotel's location and the fact that everything was within walking distance. The only thing I didn't like was that coffee was available only in the morning."
