Overall, I enjoyed my stay at the Pousada Castelo de Obidos, but the castle experience didn’t feel worth the room price. The room was small, musty, and didn’t match the photos, and getting there from the train station was a hassle — better communication or a shuttle would have helped. That said, I loved Obidos and the castle’s location was perfect for sightseeing.

Everyone was very friendly and we loved the medieval village inside the castle walls. It is very charming and we enjoyed walking around at night. However while the room itself was very clean, we noticed in the morning (we may stayed one night) that our bed sheets were heavily stained along the corners. We took pictures and understand they’ve been passed on to management.

Excellent experience. We were in the castle. Service was excellent. Room was nice and clean and quiet. It smells musty ( not too bad though) but expected for an old castle. The town is quaint as well with shops. Had excellent meal in town and great breakfast at hotel. This was one of our favorite experiences!

This is most likely the nicest hotel in Obidos, located in the former medieval Moorish Castle and subsequent Bishops Palace, in the heart of the old city. Note that you must park outside the walls in the free lot behind a nearby bank. The hotel provides a golf cart shuttle for your luggage. The rooms are comfortable. Good included breakfast in the Bishops Palace.

Extraordinary stay at the Pousada Castelo de Óbidos! Though we thought parking outside of the castle walls would have been problematic, it wasn't whatsoever! The pickup & dropoff service offered by the hotel (and specifically Guillerme) was exceptional! We truly enjoyed all of the amenities offered by the "castle" ~ a once in a lifetime experience! We'll be back!!

Experience a castle stay

Great hotel to experience the flavor of a historic castle, with many more creature comforts than the original inhabitants had. Clean and comfortable room, great bathroom, even a separate room for the bathtub! We were so impressed. Staff very kind and attentive. Parking is a bit interesting as it is outside the castle walls, but the reception responds quickly to transport you and luggage to your room, so no worries.

Top notch!

This was our top stay in Portugal. A bit expensive, but abolutely worth it. Very nice room, with very comfortable beds. Staff were very helpful, and gave us all the information we needed. Picked up our luggage (and us) with their golfcart. Service was excellent. Exclusive access to the castle, and the towers kept you away from the tourist crowds during daytime on the city walls. Also a very nice patio in front of the reception with a nice view over over the town. If we could afford it I would have liked to stay longer here.
