Really liked this hotel. It is right in the harbor, which is one of the more interesting and colorful areas of Nuuk. The food in the restaurant was great and the bed and room were very comfy.
Excellent staff , helpful, room was perfect , shared bathroom and toilet were kept clean
Service at the restaurant was quick and food quite good
Heated to a cosy temperature
I would definitely stay here again
A big thank you based on my recent stay at Hotel Soma Nuuk. The hotel was a fantastic option and deliberately chosen as near the Tidal Steps for a few boating trips. My budget room was impeccably clean, and warm.
Breakfast was brilliant with a good choice of hot and cold options.
A big thanks you to the young lady who manned the restaurant for breakfast/lunch, and the young man on evening duty - did a great job of welcoming me and giving me the general low down on the areas food
Thanks
Location is in the harbor so not much around but it's a short walk to town. Restaurant on site was good. Nice lounge area upstairs. Room was clean and comfortable for a short stay.
Great hotel. Very close to the downtown area. 15-minute walk or so, immediate next to the port for the cruise I did around Greenland. I stayed in the budget room, which meant shared shower and toilet, but it had a nice sink in the room for brushing the teeth. Great economic option. And it was really cool to stay in one of the older buildings instead of one of the newer modern ones. Definitely recommend this place. Oh and delicious restaurant!
Staff friendly, hotel OK and clean although some rooms do not have their own bathroom. We did and the shower was very good - nice water pressure but the bathrooms were outdated. Hotel is about a 15 min walk from town so not very centrally located. Thought it was expensive $345 per night.
Nice breakfast buffet offered, several nice options were available. Beds were very comfortable, but as usual, extremely narrow. Small
Great shower pressure
Easy taxi ride to and from airport. Dinner menu was limited but presented very well.
Do not forget to bring your 2 prong euro AC adapters. There are no USB charging ports for phones. Wall outlets only. Overall, a nice pleasant stay.
Lovely staff, very helpful and welcoming. Really enjoyed my stay, it is a quiet and peaceful hotel, next to the harbour and a short walk to the city centre. I would highly recommend. Thank you for great experience - overall I loved Nuuk 💚

I booked the single room with no attached toilet which had the smallest bed I had ever seen. The shared showers were dirty and had a bad Oder, and no shampoo, conditioner, or soap was provided. The area around the hotel was more of a ship yard, and the downtown was about a 20 minute walk.
The airport shuttle is 95DKK per direction. If you are more than one person you are better off taking a taxi for 150DKK.
Other than that the staff were friendly and the breakfast was good.
Incredible hotel in an incredible part of the world! We travelled to Nuuk for our honeymoon from the UK and couldn’t recommend Hotel Soma more. Staff were so helpful even before we arrived, informing us about late check-out options and taxis from the airport. Location is great - plenty of parking but also very walkable to the centre and the colonial harbour (uphill on the way). Breakfast was brilliant and our room was excellent too. We’d love to return one day!
The hotel has a convenient location and offers an acceptable price level, though one should keep in mind that Greenland in general is expensive. The overall standard is decent, but the rooms are somewhat noisy, so earplugs may be useful if you are sensitive to sound. The doors use electronic locks, and their design means they often need to be slammed shut, which can be clearly heard inside the rooms when others do the same.
Breakfast is good and simple, with a nice touch of bacon, scrambled eggs, and dessert. I would have appreciated more fresh greens and fruit, as well as the classic baked beans in tomato sauce. The hotel’s restaurant also serves tasty lunch and dinner dishes at reasonable prices by Greenlandic standards.
The bathroom in my room felt a bit outdated, and the shower curtain was not very appealing.
Overall, I can recommend this hotel if you find a good rate. After all, the hotel selection in Nuuk is rather limited.
This is a great hotel that is situated pretty well in the area of Nuuk.
It is very easy to walk to pretty much anywhere in Nuuk from the hotel, even if walking to the downtown area is uphill going and if you have any water tours, the hotel literally can't get any closer than this.
The hotel was very nice, clean and I actually had a pretty large room. The bed was very comfortable, the toilet was well maintained and there were plenty of outlets and lights in the room.
I never got around to visiting the attached dining room but talking to other guests, it was pretty good.
The front desk staff was quite nice and were very helpful in helping me find a good restaurant and getting a taxi back to the airport when it was time to leave.
I don't have any other experience in any other hotel in Nuuk, but I would definitely recommend this one.

Hotel Somo is simple, safe, and run by consistently kind and proficient staff. My room was quiet, had everything I needed, and the complimentary breakfast was nutritious with staff happy to adjust the spread. The front desk team and servers showed genuine warmth and Christ-like care, which was refreshing. I also appreciated the reliable airport shuttle, which spared guests from overpriced taxis. The hotel’s hot tub is spotless and offers a stunning mountain view—perfect for catching the northern lights. On top of that, profits support local Christian missions, and the abundance of live plants throughout the building gives it a welcoming feel.
On the downside, the property is very dated and in need of remodeling. The location, while safe, is a tough 20-minute walk from town and right in the middle of the fishing industry, which not everyone will enjoy. The restaurant food is generally unhealthy—most items are fried and heavy, with only salads and the occasional pan-seared fish special as lighter options. Cakes and pastries dominate the displays. The hot tub, though beautiful, is very expensive, and smokers often gather at the entrance, making it unpleasant to enter or exit the building.
Overall, this place is safe and community sensitive.
Being travelling a lot, Hotel SOMA has exceptional services that was really impressive. EVERYONE at the property are super nice, friendly and what makes them stand out is the Proactiveness to offer help!
1. Initiate to offer me the ice gripper: not expecting the heavy snow, with a pair of running shoes become ultra challenge. The young check-in lady taught me to put this on, so I can enjoy Nuuk on the walk.
2. Extra walk to help drop my post card at post office. They have been very responsible to check for international mailing fees and offer the best support for us.
3. Nice stay at the lounge while waiting for the late flight. The lounge is very comfy, quiet, with electric plugs to “feed” my phone.
For sure, whenever I go back to Nuuk, I will stay at Hotel SOMA!

Basic Stay
The stay was fine. The hotel is pretty basic. My room was small....with a twin bed and one pillow. The towels in the bathroom are very small and thin. My room was not serviced one of the days despite me asking which was annoying.
