I stay at this hotel whenever I have to stay on the Isle of Wight.
I love the old wordy pub feeling and the staff are extremely friendly.
The breakfast is also really good.
Bedroom very small, bed really uncomfortable , shower really slow to heat up.
Breakfast was nice but unfortunately we could not have breakfast on Sunday as it was not being served before 8am and we had to catch the ferry home

I booked this with pay at property option. Hotel took money straight away and refused to pay back. 2 days before my stay I receive a voicemail to say under new management and not honouring existing bookings. Disgraceful !!!

We paid for a Superior room but got put into a very small double . I mean you could only get out of one side of the bed . I approached the hotel who said the manager will call me , he never did . So I called him 2 days letter in which he refused to do anything about it . Shane as I would if returned the other staff were lovely and the breakfast was huge and tasty . Shame about the managers attitude . Also parking is terrible , really bad .
The room was small for a double bed that when i leant against it it scooted accoss te oom (safety issue).
*Could not have the shower st the right high as it kept sliding back down to lowest point, the rainfal shower well could not work that one out!
*Air circulation there was non couldnt open the window! No fan! And in the adverts it said airconditioning well I would like to know where that was.
* the noise at 2-3 am from ye drunks out side was not appreciated.
* the internal spiral stairs are very narow and I found these difficult to manage a few times I was worried about falling.
I WILL NOT BE STAYING THERE AGAIN DUE TO THE ABOVE
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Nice to have tea and biscuits etc. in the room. Unfortunately, I had to head out before 8 am so missed breakfast but heard from friends that it was good.
The room was fine, the strange layout of electrical sockets with one unusable behind the bed head. It would have been more helpful to have the USB socket near the bed rather than over by the kettle, on the other side of the room. The battery cover on the TV was missing.
The bathroom was poor, unfortunately. The shower cubicle was awfully small and just rather disappointing for a hotel. I am 6' 3" and bearly fit. The shower tray creaked as I stood on it, it has not been fitted properly and beware it will break at some point! The silicon was interesting, haven't seen a hit-or-miss silicone before. Expect it is not doing its job. The shower curtain was trailing on the ground and it looked like someone had recently wet the floor before I entered the room and not moped it up. Someone desperately needs to clean out the bathroom fan it is loud, I suspect it has never been removed and cleaned.
It would have been good to have the shower bottles in the cubicle and some soap by the basin rather than using the same body lotion for both.
The mirror with the shelf was cheap and felt it was going to break when using the soap.
Most of these points are fairly simple to fix so hopefully this review is read and constructive. They were small niggles, still had a very nice time.

I put in my search in Expedia to stay in Newport by Bristol. i was looking at the map. I selected a property that I thought was there, but it was actually in Newport (ANOTHER CITY in the SAME VICINITY, SAME COUNTRY) but not the Newport I was expecting. It cost me HOURS of travel time on Motorcycles in the Rain. Did I get a refund? NO. Between the HOTEL and EXPEDIA I was given bad information. What country has towns named the same in the same vicinity?

Worst 3 star hotel ever
It’s not a 3 star hotel …. It’s a B and B the room I was allocated was ridiculous, although very clean that was is it. Shower when you could get in due to size was hard to use correctly also flooded. Mattresses were awful. Food was pizza only and ordered in. Breakfast was ok.

Booked and paid for a superior room which claimed to have a queen and two twin beds, was given a weeny box room with one twin bed. The bedding was dirty and you could hear the drunks outside like they were in the room with you all night (to be expected as this hotel is in town centre). We checked out a day early and a refund/ any compensation was declined by the owner. Big thank you to the morning staff who were lovely and understanding although unfortunately could not help us.

Wheatsheaf Newport Isle of Wight
The accommodation overall was nice and in a good location. The staff were friendly and willing to help wherever they could and the was good. However the room was disappointing as it was very small and poky for a standard double with not space to move around and limited wardrobe space which was a shame as I had stayed there before in a much bigger room.
The room was very quiet and comfy. I would recommend to stay here. Nice and quiet room ( 8 ) with everything for relaxed stay. In the centre and near to shop, cafes, etc.
It’s the only hotel I have ever booked and instead of giving my engineers the booked rooms they only checked them in one room and then called after midnight to check into the other room. The hotel have refused to refund us for a room they didn’t give us the keys to. We have engineers in hotel every week of the year and have never received such an unprofessional check in

Not too bad
Staff was great, no problem at all, nice breakfast. But few things has to be pointed out. We were given a family room that we decided to move a bed and it had a lot of dust and broken glass underneath, shower was in need of maintenance, no pressure only dripping water. Parking is limited and a bit of walk from the place, I had an issue that when we got there late, there was a commercial van parked on the allocated parking and I had to pay a over night parking ticket down the road.
If you really want to know what the experience is like at this place. Grab cup of tea you need it.
COMFORT
As you all know the place is called Wheatsheaf HOTEL, it is not a hotel. It is a terrible accomodation above a very smelly and unkept pub. To access the rooms you have to climb a severely rundown tight spiral staircase which makes it very uncomfortable to carry luggage to the room. The staircase is also badly lit making it a trip hazard. The Hotel policy states the accomodation is suitable for disabled people ... it is not. There isnt a lift or disabled access, narrow and uneven floors and corridors and a lot of stairs. When you go into the room, the bedrooms are very small and everything is cramped into the tight space. A room approximately 9m2 has 3 single beds, toilet, a cupboard and side tables. The shower is a 600mm x 600mm with a door that closes from the inside making it difficult to open and close the door. There is no water pressure and the shower floods. Im 4ft 11 and a size 8 and that shower was very small for me.The beds have not been moved and had collected a sickening amount of dust (picture in evidence). The barely existing management did not enforce staff to clean under beds until the 3rd day of complaining to which a family member with hayfever on prescribed medication was nearly hospitalised due to severe allergic reaction to the dust. My luggage bag was damaged during their cleaning which they were rude, denied accountability and didnt compansate
