It’s a 5 minute walk to the theater though so that was nice. Tandem bakery is right next door. You have to get coffee and pastries. Make sure to get a loaded biscuit. "

"The Blind Tiger was one of the best accommodations I've ever stayed in! The location was perfect – far enough away from the "bustle" of downtown but close enough to walk to many spots (Smalls was a favorite!). The daily breakfast was so great and the room, my goodness! Adorable, perfect, comfortable... best sleep of my life! Maggie was so helpful and accommodating and made our stay really special. All in all, highly recommend!"

One day out of four they strangely neglected to clean the room, even with a door sign requesting service, but the night front desk person took it upon herself to do so when we noted the problem after returning around dinner time. "When I booked my stay I was under the impression that there was breakfast and there wasn't which wasn't ideal for traveling with kids and when I asked for a wash cloth the person didn't know what a wash cloth was and just gave me a towel and he was upset that I took his time from his phone. Then my son got sick and I needed new sheets when I asked for a fresh sheet I was told I had to wait for the morning which ment I had to sleep on a bed with no sheets. "The room smelled like bug spray and the blanket was stained. They did not have the room I booked available and did not give me a refund when I brought this to their attention and told them I was uncomfortable and would not stay there. They insisted I try a different room. That would have worked If I didn't feel uncomfortable to begin with. Expedia tried to contact them and they never answered. "

"I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn by the bay in Portland Maine. It was an excellent experience and not terribly expensive for booking. I loved how the staff was able to upgrade my room just from checking in alone. Recommend anyone passing by to at least stay here just for the heck of it if you got time and money to spare."
