"I booked 2 rooms we were allocated rooms 12/14 on 2nd floor which were OK but could do with a revamp.Room 14 had a iron but no ironing board room 12 had a ironing board but no iron so we ending up sharing. Extractor fan not working in bathroom number 12.Both rooms had a view facing the main road and the traffic was constant from 5am.Car alarm going off several times during the night did not help sleeping (I know it was not the hotels fault).Breakfast was OK tea was luke warm from dispenser. Overall our stay was OK but having spent over £550 for both rooms it could have been better."
"The house itself is beautiful. Grounds are well maintained, stunning views, pleasant staff, delicious breakfast and lots of parking. Train station to other areas if almost directly opposite.
My only gripe was the internet. We had no access throughout our stay in our room - number 8, and very limited in other areas of the hotel. I know we didn’t have a break to be on our phones all day, but it is essential in these days to have access to it."
"Our hotel room was a bit dated and was far too hot with no way of cooling it down. There was also no fridge.
The food was fine, although there were a lot of prepacked foods used (such as pancakes at breakfast, bean burger at dinner). We also ordered packed lunches for our hike and they were quite basic for the £17.50 they cost and they were also quite squashed when they were given to us (the banana was a bit mouldy too as well as being very bruised).
The pool was amazing and we all loved it and although we didn't use the spa it looked lovely too. The changing rooms were far too hot though which made getting dressed very uncomfortable.
The staff were all lovely, especially at reception, really chatty and friendly.
With a few little improvements I feel this could be a fantastic hotel."
"Firstly checked in to find previous guests clothes in wardrobe, then the spa bath didn't work even though we were supposed to have been upgraded , then there was about 6 months dust on top of four poster bed ,the bed was broken and only fixed by a 3mm screw ( dangerous) . Was moved to a twin room for 1 night then put in superior room only to find someone's tablet under the bed runner which should of been clean linen clearly not . Put in a complaint to manager and hasn't even had the decency to respond . If u have any sense please stay somewhere else as that tablet could of killed a child or dog but the owner and manager clearly isn't bothered about safety protocols"
"Lovely place to stay, beautiful countryside. Francesca and Pete made us feel extremely welcome as soon as we arrived. Nothing we asked for was too much for them to sort out. The room was amazing, clean and spacious - everything that we needed was there and more, great night sleep - bed was really comfortable. The bar area was amazing. Breakfast - there was everything that you could as for. Only thing we wished we would have done is booked for two nights not just the one. We will be definitely be visiting again but next time we will bring the dogs as the facilities they have there for them are brilliant."
"It’s a majestic and beautiful property which has been tastefully decorated. We stayed in the family room (2 adults and a teenager) and it was huge and lovely. The only criticism would be about the bathroom…the shower pressure and no shelving in the shower or bath to put your products on (very minor though). We can’t speak highly enough of all the staff from the reception, to the restaurant/breakfast and bar. A special mention to Brendan who made one of the nicest Espresso Martinis I’ve ever had.
We will definitely be back."
