"The Mountain House is unique. It is truly an old house that has been modified to include rooms and a restaurant. There are about 8-10 rooms in the Main House where we stayed. There is a separate building called the Bunkhouse out back. The room was clean but very small and tight. More so that I thought was possible but we got used to it. "We were very impressed with the accommodations. The furniture, decor, kitchen was well equipped for a weekend getaway. The suite was perfect for 2 people and our teen slept on the couch, but ended up in the massive king bed alongside us the second night. The Lodge is a cool area for recreating and the bar (opening soon) was a hip little addition—LOVE the ceiling. We enjoyed eating on the back patio in the evening and we even had a visit from a black bear while sitting just outside the back...

"Loved Outpost Inn; highly recommend and can't imagine staying anywhere else in town -- incredible vibe, great coffee shop and wine bar, lots of cute spots to sit inside and outside. It felt like the place in town when all the younger, cooler (young meaning, 50 and under, ha) hang out. I loved my room, which was spacious and comfortable. I appreciated the free drip coffee in the mornings. And wow, the weather in Highlands can't be beat in the summer."

"We only stayed for one night and it was a basic hotel stay. Check in was quick and easy, my room was clean and the air got cold. Got a great night sleep then left early the next morning. It was a basic hotel room. Nothing fancy or frilly, but I paid a basic price for a standard room. As long as it’s clean and serves the purpose, I’m happy. I’d definitely stay again if passing through the area."
